Knobu 0.1.0

The first release of Knobu, PowerToys-style utilities for Ubuntu.

What's inside

• Touchpad Gestures: slide 3 fingers up or down to change the volume (follows your system's maximum, up to 150%), tap 3 fingers to mute, tap 4 fingers to play or pause media.
• Keyboard Manager: remap keys and shortcuts on every keyboard, in every app, on Wayland and X11.
• Awake: keep your computer and screen awake, forever or for a set time.
• Color Picker (Super+Shift+C): pick a colour from anywhere on screen, with a magnifier on KDE, recent colours and HEX/RGB/HSL copy.
• Text Extractor (Super+Shift+T): drag over any text on screen and copy it.

Requires Ubuntu 24.04 or newer.

Install

sudo apt install ./knobu_0.1.0_all.deb

Then:

1. Make sure you're in the input group, so Knobu can read your touchpad and keyboards. If not, run sudo usermod -aG input $USER, then log out and back in.
2. Open Knobu from the app menu and turn on the background service.

For Text Extractor, also install tesseract-ocr.

Verify the download with sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.
