📖 About
Released between 2015 and 2019, Kerbal Star Systems (KSS1) was one of the first large-scale interstellar expansions ever made for Kerbal Space Program.
It introduced new solar systems, expanded deep-space exploration, and laid the creative groundwork for future interstellar mods.
KSS1 served as the foundation for Galaxies Unbound (2019–2022) and later inspired Kerbal Star Systems 2 (KSS2).
This archive ensures that the original versions are preserved and accessible directly from the creator, maintaining historical accuracy and authorship.
🛰️ The KSS 0.8.2 release has been added here because it represents the most complete and latest stable version of the original mod.

🛑 Why It Was Retired
KSS1 came to an end following a combination of technical and community challenges:

The Blalo Texture Incident
- A texture used for the planet Blalo was found to have been derived from material not fully cleared for redistribution.
- To resolve the issue and avoid further conflict, KSS1 was taken down permanently.
- This marked an important learning moment for stricter asset sourcing and license verification in later projects.

Project Evolution and Scale
- The project had grown beyond what could reasonably be maintained by one person.
- To continue developing interstellar content at higher quality and compliance standards, KSS1 evolved into Galaxies Unbound (GU) and later KSS2.

Released between 2019 and 2024, Galaxies Unbound expanded on the foundations laid by Kerbal Star Systems (KSS1) to create one of the most ambitious interstellar planet packs ever made for Kerbal Space Program.
This archive exists solely for educational and historical purposes.
It is not an active mod and is not intended for reuse, redistribution, or modification.
🛑 Why It Was Retired
Galaxies Unbound was retired for two main reasons:

Licensing Conflicts
- Some third-party assets used during development were later identified as being under restrictive or incompatible licenses.
- To comply with copyright law and respect the rights of those creators, the mod was removed from public distribution.
- These rights holders may still take legal action if their work is reuploaded or reused without permission.

Project Scale
- The project became too large to sustain as a solo effort.
- Managing hundreds of celestial bodies, configs, and visual assets was no longer feasible.
- This led to the creation of Kerbal Star Systems 2 (KSS2) — a cleaner, fully-original successor.
