Compás 0.4.0

This is the first public release of Compás for Android, the companion app for players running Compás. It lets you drive the player from your phone, so the player can stay in your bag or on the desk.

What you can do with it

• Connect over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The app finds your player on its own, or you can type r1.compas.local (or the device's IP address). You pair once with the PIN shown on the player. If the connection drops, the app reconnects by itself.
• Browse your whole library. Go through albums, artists, album artists, songs, genres, folders, favorites and recently played. There's search and a letter index for long lists. Album art is cached on your phone, so scrolling stays quick.
• Control what's playing. Play, pause, skip, seek, shuffle, repeat and set the player's volume. Tap the format badge to see the codec, bit depth and sample rate of the current track.
• Use your phone's own controls. Playback shows up in the notification and on the lock screen, and the phone's volume keys change the player's volume.
• Manage the queue. See what's up next, drag songs to reorder them, or remove them.
• Edit playlists. Create, rename and delete playlists, and add songs from anywhere in the library. You can also select several songs and act on them all at once.
• Set up swipe actions. Choose whether swiping a song left or right plays it next, adds it to the queue, or does nothing.
• Copy music over Wi-Fi. Browse the player's SD card, upload files from your phone and delete what you don't need. If the connection drops, uploads pick up where they left off.
• Make it yours. Choose light, dark or system theme, an accent color (or let it follow the album art) and a background, from plain to a gradient that moves slowly.
• Get update notices. The app tells you when a new version of the player software is out.
• Use it in your language. The app is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Russian.

Installing

Download compas-0.4.0.apk below and open it on your phone. You may need to allow installs from your browser or file manager. It needs Android 9 or newer on a 64-bit (arm64) phone.

Known limits

• It's Android only for now.
• The app doesn't update itself yet, so check this page for new versions.
