Storm Shield Sandbox app v1
Try Storm Shield on your own computer: nothing to install, and no terminal. Everything you see is SIMULATED: a made-up Mesh of Sensors replaying a real flood.
Download
- Mac (Apple Silicon: M1 or newer):
Storm-Shield-Sandbox-macos-arm64.zip - Windows (64-bit):
Storm-Shield-Sandbox-windows-x64.zip
Unzip it, then open Storm Shield Sandbox (on Windows, the Storm Shield Sandbox.exe inside the unzipped folder). Your browser opens the dashboard. Press Stop in the Sandbox Panel when you are done; it also ends by itself ten minutes after you close the tab. It is reachable only from your own computer.
The first time, your computer will warn you
The app is not signed (signing needs paid accounts), so Windows and macOS ask you to confirm. It is safe to continue, and the source of everything in it is in this repository.
Windows: if "Windows protected your PC" appears, click More info, then Run anyway.
Mac: if it says the app "can't be opened", close that message, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to the message about Storm Shield Sandbox and click Open Anyway, then confirm.
If nothing seems to happen, look for storm-shield-sandbox-failed.html or storm-shield-sandbox.log in your temporary folder; the app opens a page saying what went wrong when it cannot start.
Cache Pack: Nepal v2
Nepal's Cache Pack rebuilt from the current regions/nepal/region.json (v1 predates hub_site, so the Sandbox could not switch to Nepal). Built with scripts/build-cache-pack.sh nepal.
Cache Pack: Fort Myers v2
Fort Myers Cache Pack with Ian's beach and bay stations from the USGS storm sensor readings (#54).
Cache Pack: Fort Myers v1
Fort Myers Region's Cache Pack (Fort Myers Beach and Estero Bay), built with scripts/build-cache-pack.sh fort-myers from regions/fort-myers/region.json (see scripts/cache-pack/README.md). Nodes download it automatically when NODE_REGION=fort-myers and CACHE_PACK_URL is unset. Its Flood-Prone Area is traced from approximate terrain (land below 9 ft NAVD88).
Cache Pack: Nepal v1
Nepal Region's Cache Pack, built with scripts/build-cache-pack.sh nepal from regions/nepal/region.json (see scripts/cache-pack/README.md). Nodes download it automatically when NODE_REGION=nepal and CACHE_PACK_URL is unset.
Cache Pack v6
Full build with --roads-pbf: roads, Routes, high ground, national weather replay, Nepal map and elevation. No fleet file (the Simulated Fleet was deleted in #61).
Cache Pack v5
Nepal vector map (ticket 0063): border, 75 districts, 1,827 OpenStreetMap river lines (five main rivers tagged), places with Kathmandu and the four valley towns marked as key places, and Terrarium elevation tiles (zoom 5 to 8 over Nepal, 9 to 12 over the valley and the Kathmandu valley, approximate). Plus the valley's river line, corridor, Shelters, weather and the Simulated Fleet. No raster tiles and no road graph or Routes. 10.0 MB. Sources and licences are in the manifest's nepal entry and scripts/cache-pack/README.md. Built 2026-10-18; v4 is left as it was.
SwampHacks 2026 submission
Storm Shield as submitted at SwampHacks 2026: the Nepal flood replay demo. Run it with scripts/run-demo.sh from this tag.
cache-pack-v4
Cache Pack v3
Bhote Koshi valley (ticket 0043): river corridor as the Flood-Prone Area, river line with River km and reach speeds, five Shelters (checked from maps only, none confirmed), tiles z10-14. No route grid.
