@TGod-Ajayi TGod-Ajayi released this 04 Nov 21:44

Download Plumb.dmg below, drag Plumb to Applications, and open it.

First open: this beta isn't notarized by Apple yet. macOS will say it can't check Plumb for malware. Click Done, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. You only do this once. Already have an earlier beta? Quit it, then replace it in Applications.

What's new

  • Activity. A new tool that shows what's using your Mac right now, grouped by app and explained in plain words: memory, CPU, energy, battery and network, with a way to quit an app or stop a dev server.
  • Plumb opens at login. Once it's in Applications, Plumb starts with your Mac and stays in the menu bar, with no window. macOS shows a notice the first time. You can turn it off in Settings or Startup items.

Known issues

  • Not notarized yet (see above).
  • Starting quietly at login is new and hasn't been tried through a real logout yet. If a window opens at login, please report it.
  • Activity estimates energy from CPU use, and it undercounts processes owned by the system.
  • The Intel build hasn't been tried on a real Intel Mac yet. If you have one, please report how it goes.
  • No automatic updates. Check this page for new versions.

Plumb 0.1.0 beta 2

@TGod-Ajayi TGod-Ajayi released this 02 Nov 10:42

Already have beta 1? Quit it, then replace it in Applications.

What's new

  • Plumb fits your window. The big numbers, the dial and the margins grow on large displays, and lists and panels scroll on small ones. The window now goes down to 1024 × 640.
    • Settings and Toolchains fit their cards into as many columns as there's room for.
    • The review sheet narrows on small windows.
  • Old large media. Large and old files now lists videos, audio and photo exports in Movies, Music, Pictures and on the Desktop that you haven't opened in a year. A folder of them shows as one item.
    • They're always Your call and never counted, because they may be your only copy.
    • Plumb doesn't look inside projects, or inside the Photos and Music libraries.
    • The results page says how much of this there is, with a link to review it.
  • A new welcome screen, with your disk on the new icon's cobalt tile and Full Disk Access just below it.
  • The new app icon is also in Growth watch's alert preview.

Known issues

  • Not notarized yet (see above).
  • The Intel build hasn't been tried on a real Intel Mac yet. If you have one, please report how it goes.
