LocalLink for Mac 1.0.0
First Mac build of LocalLink. Your Mac joins the same Bluetooth mesh as LocalLink phones (and bitchat users), with no internet and no accounts.
New: send any file. Click the paperclip → choose file, or drag a file from Finder onto a chat. Works in the public #mesh chat and in private chats, files up to 1 MB, sent exactly as they are.
Requirements: macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple Silicon or Intel.
Install
- Download
LocalLink-1.0.0-mac.dmg(18M), open it, and drag LocalLink into Applications. - Open LocalLink. The first time, macOS blocks it because it is not notarized by Apple yet: go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway next to LocalLink, and confirm.
- Allow Bluetooth when asked.
Known limits
- Phones on LocalLink 1.0.3 accept files up to about 100 KB from a Mac. Larger files need the next Android release.
- Not notarized by Apple yet, hence the one-time "Open Anyway" step.
Built from bitchat's macOS app (public domain, Unlicense) with file sending added.
SHA-256 (LocalLink-1.0.0-mac.dmg): 7590564ee5d7527a2ec692ace04e4ae7bb447a93c4eb953fec50824e431e81b1
LocalLink v1.0.3
Full Changelog: v1.0.2...v1.0.3
LocalLink v1.0.2
Fixes an install failure (INSTALL_FAILED_DUPLICATE_PERMISSION) on devices that also have the official bitchat app installed — a leftover custom permission was still namespaced to the upstream package. Grab app-universal-release.apk for any device.
LocalLink v1.0.1
New first-run welcome carousel and rebranded onboarding/permission screens. Grab app-universal-release.apk for any device — same signing key as v1.0.0, so this installs as a normal update.
LocalLink v1.0.0
First public release. Grab app-universal-release.apk for any device. Self-signed for sideloading — if you had a previous debug/test build installed, uninstall it first.
