Fixed

  • Preserve conversation history when a context-compaction response tries to call a tool instead of producing a handoff. Parsed, inline, malformed and truncated tool-call responses are rejected without executing their calls.
  • Keep valid summaries that quote the literal <tool_call> token in prose or code examples. Quoted tokens remain unchanged in the handoff.
  • Strengthen regression coverage for native server responses, complete history preservation and rejected-call execution.

Validation

Verified on macOS arm64 with 1,691 passing tests, typecheck, build and tool-schema validation. Built CLI behavior was compared against v0.4.3 through a real macOS PTY and visible xterm.js terminal using local HTTP fixtures. GitHub CI covers Node 20/22, Linux arm64, Python and template goldens.

Thanks for the focused fix and regression tests in #49.
