First public release of ChessEngine_Gambit, a UCI chess engine written in Java.

Downloads

  • ChessEngine_Gambit-1.0-windows.zip: Windows, no Java needed. Unzip and use ChessEngine_Gambit-1.0\ChessEngine_Gambit-1.0.exe in your GUI.
  • gambit.jar: any OS with Java 25+. Run with java --add-modules jdk.incubator.vector -Xmx2g -jar gambit.jar

Features

  • NNUE evaluation (768 -> 384x2 -> 1), trained on ~132M self-play positions; the network is built into both downloads
  • PVS search with null-move pruning, LMR, aspiration windows and a transposition table
  • Lazy SMP (Threads), Hash up to 1024 MB, pondering
