v0.1.0
First release: Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 Deluxe running as a native program.
The game
- Mod: Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 Deluxe (the title screen says "Virtual 64 Pro Wrestling Deluxe"), by Lowwater, 2026.
- Based on: Virtual Pro Wrestling 2: Ōdō Keishō (AKI Corporation / Asmik Ace Entertainment, Nintendo 64, Japan, 2000).
- This port runs the mod's ROM only; the retail cartridge and the FreeM edition are different images and will not be accepted.
Downloads
- Mac (Apple chip or Intel, macOS 13+):
VPW64Deluxe-Mac.zip, signed and notarized by Apple. - Linux (64-bit, desktops from 2022 on):
VPW64Deluxe-Linux.tar.gz. - Windows: coming in a later release.
What's in it
- The whole game: title, menus, every match type reachable from Exhibition, saves kept in your settings folder with automatic backups.
- The Tanooki Studios launcher: Game (cheats), Settings (display, controls, sound) and About pages; an in-game menu on Esc or the controller's Back button.
- Cheats: Unlock all wrestlers, Can't be hurt (player 1), Triple damage (player 1), Special always ready (player 1), and Weak opponents.
- Controllers work with no setup; the keyboard works alongside them.
Bring your own ROM. Nothing from the cartridge ships here. The launcher asks for your Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 Deluxe .z64 once and remembers it.
Fixed since the first upload
- Finishing a match by pinfall crashed the game at the three-count.
- Quit Match from the pause menu crashed the game.
- The Linux download crashed at startup.
- A rare graphics crash on Mac: the game now skips a frame instead of quitting.
- The launcher's home page now lists all five cheats and says where to turn them on.
- Linux: the game no longer crashes while closing on systems without a desktop message service, and Browse for ROM explains what to install if the file picker cannot open.
Known rough edges
- The Linux build is untested on real hardware.
