Which file do I download?

file who it is for what it does
transcript-normalizer-0.7.0-<system>-lite anyone who just wants to use it fetches the platform's captions and fixes domain terms; opens a menu when double-clicked
transcript-normalizer-0.7.0-<system>-full (macOS, Linux) anyone who also has videos without captions, or audio files everything lite does, and also transcribes audio on your computer (the first time, it downloads a 1.5 GB speech model). On macOS, a .zip: unzip, then open transcript-normalizer inside the folder. On Linux, a .tar.gz of a folder: extract it, then run transcript-normalizer inside the folder. On Windows, full is the two files below
transcript-normalizer-0.7.0-windows-full-setup.exe Windows, full: the installer choose where it goes (for you only, no administrator needed, or for all users); Start menu shortcut; clean uninstall from "Add or remove programs", which keeps your files
transcript-normalizer-0.7.0-windows-full-portable.zip Windows, full: portable unzip anywhere, e.g. a USB drive, and open transcript-normalizer.exe inside the folder; everything (your files, settings, the speech model) stays in its data folder; delete the folder to remove it
transcript_normalizer-0.7.0-py3-none-any.whl, .tar.gz Python developers the package, for pip install

<system> is windows, macos (Apple silicon) or linux; Linux executables run on glibc 2.35 or newer (Ubuntu 22.04 and later). The executables are not signed, so Windows and macOS will warn the first time; the SHA-256 of every file is at the end of this page.

Qual arquivo baixar?

Context-conditioned variants: a form that counts only where other terms of the pack appear (D-086); packs that say which engine they need, min_engine (D-087); no pack installed by default: the bundled one is included, installed when chosen, offline (D-088).

  • The pack shipped inside the program, financas-ptbr, is now included, not installed (D-088). A fresh data folder has no pack installed, and the first screen says "No pack installed yet: you will be asked what the video is about." "What is this video about?" lists the installed packs, then the included ones marked "(included, not installed)", then the packs repository's marked "(from the packs repository)" when it answers, then "Create your own from a template…" and "None / another area"; picking a pack that is not installed installs it, with one line, and normalizes. pack install financas-ptbr works offline (--included skips the repository altogether) and writes the same record as a download, so pack update and pack merge treat it the same; pack update also installs a newer included version after an upgrade, offline. pack list shows installed, included and repository packs, each marked, and still lists the first two when the repository is not reached. Packs → Installed packs shows only installed ones; Get a pack lists included and repository packs, included first; "The pack offered first" appears only with a pack installed, and with one it is that one. Anyone with a pack in packs/ (installed or a copy) sees no change; normalize --pack on the command line still falls back to the included pack.
  • A pack can say which version of transcript-normalizer it needs (D-087): min_engine in the packs index and in the pack file. pack list shows a pack this version cannot use with the reason ("financas-ptbr 0.3.8 needs transcript-normalizer 0.7.0 or later (this is 0.6.5)"); pack install, pack update, the menu's Get a pack and its look for merges never install or offer it; a pack file copied by hand that needs a newer version is refused when loaded, with that line, instead of being half-understood. The index may list a pack in several versions: the newest this version can use is taken, and versions up to 0.6.5 keep the last one listed, so the packs repository can publish financas-ptbr 0.3.8 without older installs getting it.
  • financas-ptbr 0.3.8: OPEX gets Ox back as a variant, only in a video where CAPEX appears (D-086), its first context-conditioned form. R2Qgz8tFWVI regains its three Ox → OPEX rows (142 → 145 hits, false positives unchanged); the street-prank video where Ox was the Northeastern oxe gets nothing. The guides have a paragraph on words that are only an error near other words, and CONTRIBUTING section 2.3a says how to write a context.
  • Writing a context (D-086): pack add-term ... --variant <form> --context <terms> [--unless-near <terms>]; the menu asks, after each variant, whether it is also an ordinary word and which pack terms mark its meaning; the review, after "only in this video", offers to save the form for every video where one of the run's terms appears. A pack whose context names an unknown term or an ordinary word is refused on load. pack propose keeps the context.
  • A pack form can now depend on context (D-086): context: {Ox: [CAPEX]} makes Ox count as OPEX only in a video where CAPEX appears, at least twice (once: asked, not applied; never: not proposed), and unless_near: asks instead of applying when another term is within 90 seconds. Context terms are found only exactly, never by similarity. Packs without it behave as before.
