simplecad v0.12.0
Changed
- SimpleFlow runs in full from one button. The old BUILD step only made the CfdOF case; you then had to open CfdOF's mesh panel, press things, open its solver panel, press more. Now the step is RUN (the same place and the same one-button idea as SimpleStress): it rebuilds the case, meshes with Gmsh, runs OpenFOAM on every core and reads the log, with a progress line and a red STOP that ends the mesher and solver processes for real and keeps nothing. It jumps to RESULT when done and says in plain words which stage failed. Small MESH PANEL / SOLVER PANEL buttons remain for experts. RESULT also shows cells, time taken and steps.
- Simulation panels follow the document you are looking at (open another file or make a new one while a simulation is showing, and the wizard rebuilds for it; never during a run).
Fixed
- Flow results were wrong in four ways that only a real OpenFOAM run showed: unnamed faces were treated as frictionless slip walls (a pipe gave 0.005 Pa/m instead of 1.6): the part's walls are now an explicit no-slip default; the initial-flow step produced garbage on tetrahedra and crashed the solver (now off); a harmless
trapFpeline in OpenFOAM's start-up banner made every good run read "SOLVER BLEW UP"; the cell estimate counted cubes instead of tetrahedra, about five times too low, so "quick" was not quick on a low-end PC (new caps 40k / 150k / 400k cells); and a pipe was meshed by its length instead of its bore (786 cells). - A SimpleCAD toolbar (Solid / Deck) could stay on screen in SimpleStress, SimpleFlow or SimpleSnap if you switched away within about a second of arriving; SimpleCAD now tidies up at once when you go to a workbench FreeCAD never hops to by itself, and a late timer cannot put its toolbars back.
- Workbench icons for SimpleStress / SimpleFlow / SimpleSnap were looked up in a doubled folder (
SimpleFlow/SimpleFlow/icons) before the workbench had been opened; FreeCAD printed "Cannot find icon" three times at start-up.
Verified (FreeCAD 1.1.4 and OpenFOAM v1912 (ESI), Linux)
- New
tests/freecad/fc_launch.py(1,449 checks): every workbench started cold with and without a document, also FreeCAD started straight into each of SimpleFlow / SimpleStress / SimpleSnap; all 24 orders of the four workbenches with Part Design / Part in between (96 switches), twice-activated, wizard keeps its step on a round trip, follows a new / other document. After every switch: right panel visible, usable size, docked, inside the window; no other pack panel, toolbar or drawing left over; one panel per workbench; no error in the Report view. - New
tests/freecad/fc_flow_run.py: the RUN button against real OpenFOAM: a block in a wind tunnel settles (about 15 s on 4 cores, run twice: no extra objects), STOP leaves no mesher or solver process, and water through a 10 mm x 100 mm pipe gives a pressure gradient within the documented band of the exact Poiseuille value (see RESEARCH.md: tetrahedra read 17-26 % high). - Unit tests: 269 unit tests, including a real solver log and the "crash after the banner" case.
Not tested yet
- OpenFOAM Foundation 13 (openfoam.org, what the installer fetches), Windows and Mac runs, a real Scotch decomposition, the real CfdOF / OpenFOAM downloads. The T-shaped channel did not settle within 2,000 steps, which the result screen says honestly.
