Honya 1.3.0 — Smarter, Smoother, Better

A major update focused on downloads, notifications, library updates, automatic app updates, and improving the overall Honya experience.

📥 Download Manager

  • Dedicated Download Manager
  • Proper chapter download queue — chapters download sequentially instead of all at once
  • Queued, downloading, completed, failed, and cancelled states
  • Retry and cancellation controls from the Download Manager
  • Chapter-level download progress
  • Download notifications showing current status and progress
  • Completion summaries for large download batches

🔄 Library Updates

  • Manual "Update Library" action
  • Automatic library update scheduling — Honya can now periodically check your library for new chapters
  • Progress information while your library is being checked
  • Notifications when meaningful update events occur
  • Update completion and failure reporting

🔔 Notifications

  • Complete notification system for Honya
  • Notifications for downloads, library updates, and app updates
  • Notification permission request so Honya can properly ask users to enable notifications
  • Notification preferences and controls
  • Live information about ongoing operations

Notifications are currently informational. Downloads and updates can be controlled from their respective Honya screens rather than directly from the notification itself.

  • Automatic checking for new Honya releases
  • Honya checks the official GitHub releases for newer versions
  • Users are informed when a new version is available and can choose whether to download it
  • APK download progress shown through notifications
  • Support for the new in-app update workflow

📚 Chapter Selection

  • Improved long-press chapter selection
  • Long-pressing another chapter while already selecting adds it to the existing selection instead of replacing it
  • Added Select All and Select All Except actions
  • Improved bulk chapter operations
  • Selection mode now exits correctly after relevant actions

⚡ Performance & Quality of Life

  • Improved performance with large chapter lists
  • Reduced unnecessary list updates and re-renders
  • Improved filtering and chapter state synchronization
  • Improved download and update state handling
  • Fixed various UI inconsistencies introduced by the newer systems
