OpenRecomp-FGC v0.1.0 (pre-release: test build). One launcher for Tekken 4 (USA) and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online (USA), native on Windows, with online play for both.

This is the first release of the launcher. Please read "Known limits" before you install.

What it is

  • One window, one pad-friendly shelf with a tile per game. Everything works with an Xbox pad, with mouse and keyboard, or both.
  • Tekken 4: build it from your own disc image, play offline, or online with rollback by lobby or by direct IP / VPN.
  • Tekken 5 DR Online: attach or install the T5DR release, build it once from your own package, play offline, or use the T5DR lobby (chat, private chat, quick match, ranked, challenges, rooms, tournaments, spectating, replays).
  • Online pages: a lobby page, a ranked card (rank plate, rating, progress to the next rank, recent results), login as one card, grouped Settings.
  • You stay logged in: cancelling a search, a declined or cancelled match, a short connection drop, a server or launcher restart no longer log you out ("Remember me").
  • Build page: cards for the game, your files and the build tools, one big Build button with the current step, the time so far and about how long is left. Missing build tools are installed by the launcher (winget) after one confirmation.
  • Choosing an ISO, package or folder with mouse or keyboard opens the normal Windows Explorer dialog; with a pad the launcher's own list stays (X opens Explorer). Copy and paste work in every text field.
  • While you search online, the launcher says when the only other players searching have another build (a match needs the same launcher and game build on both PCs).
  • Installs and updates the games for you (download, checksum and signature check, in place). Settings, builds and saves stay.
  • Seven languages: English, Deutsch, Español, Français, 日本語, 한국어, Português (Brasil). The first start uses your Windows display language.
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is planned for a later version. There is no date.

No game data, ISO, BIOS, package or license is included. You bring your own copies, and each game is built on your PC.

Install

Pick one:

  1. Setup (recommended). Download OpenRecomp-FGC-Setup-0.1.0.exe and run it. It installs for your Windows user only (no administrator rights), asks for a folder (any drive; default %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\OpenRecomp), adds a Start menu entry and, if you tick it, a desktop shortcut. Uninstall: Windows Settings > Apps > OpenRecomp-FGC. The games you built and your saves are never removed; the uninstaller asks before it deletes the launcher's own settings.
  2. Zip. Download OpenRecomp-v0.1.0.zip, unpack it into a new, empty folder you can write to (not Program Files), and double-click OpenRecomp-FGC\run.cmd.

Python and the Qt runtime are inside; there is nothing else to install for the launcher itself.

The Setup program and the launcher are not code-signed yet. Windows SmartScreen may warn you ("unknown publisher"); that is expected for a new, unsigned program. Compare the SHA-256 of what you downloaded with the table below or with SHA256SUMS.

What you need for each game

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, for both.

Tekken 4 (USA, SLUS-20328 v1.00 only)

  • Your own Tekken 4 USA disc image (ISO). Other regions (PAL SCES-50878, for example) are refused before anything is built.
  • To build it you need Visual Studio 2022 Build Tools ("Desktop development with C++"), Git, CMake and Ninja. Python is included. The Build page checks them and installs what is missing with winget after you confirm once.
  • The first build takes about 5 to 6 minutes on a desktop PC.
  • The Tekken 4 release is a separate pre-release on TheWishin/Tekken4Recomp. Until it is published, Install Tekken 4 says so and lets you choose a Tekken 4 folder you already have.

Tekken 5 DR Online (USA PSN, NPUB30009)

  • Your own package (.pkg) and license (.rap) from your own account.
  • No developer tools. The T5DR release brings its own compiler; BUILD GAME takes about 2 minutes. The T5DR requirements (a 4-core CPU from about 2014, a DirectX 12 graphics card, 8 GB RAM) are in its own release notes.
  • Select the Tekken 5 tile. If T5DR is not found, choose Install Tekken 5 DR Online (the launcher downloads the release and checks it), or point it at a T5DR-Online-X.Y.Z folder you already have.

Updates

  • The launcher looks for a newer version a few seconds after it starts (quietly: it only speaks when there is an update) and from Quick access > Check for launcher updates. An update is shown with its version, size and notes, and you confirm it. It is downloaded, checked against the project's signature, swapped in place, and the launcher restarts. If the new version does not start properly, the old one comes back.
  • v0.1.0 is the first release, so there is nothing to update from yet. Launchers offer released versions; pre-releases only with Quick access > Test versions on.
  • Games: a tile shows UPDATE or UPDATE NEEDED (needed to play online). X on the tile updates in place and keeps your settings and built game; if the game's code changed, the launcher asks you to build again.

Known limits

  • First release, early testing. It was checked on the development PC and in a lab setup, not yet on a clean PC or by many people.
  • Not tested by a person yet: a clean Windows PC, SmartScreen and antivirus reactions on other PCs, Windows display scaling of 150 % in all seven languages, PlayStation controllers in the launcher (an Xbox pad was tried), the automatic build-tool install on a PC that has none of them.
  • Windows 10/11 x64 only.
  • T5DR through the launcher: the Online screens use the lobby client of the T5DR you installed. A few desktop extras of T5DR's own launcher are not in OpenRecomp yet: hosting a lobby for friends from the launcher, the firewall helper, Discord presence and desktop notifications. Use T5DR Online.exe for these; it stays fully usable beside OpenRecomp.
  • One game at a time: OpenRecomp will not start a T5DR game while another T5DR game of this PC is running.
  • The tournament bracket is shown as rows you pick with the pad, not as the old launcher's mouse-drawn bracket.
  • Tekken 4: see its own release notes (TheWishin/Tekken4Recomp) for what is and is not there.

Test instructions (testers)

  1. Compare the SHA-256 of the download with the table below. Run Setup, install into a new folder, start the launcher from the Start menu.
  2. Shelf: two tiles. Move with the pad (directions, A, B, LB/RB) and with the mouse. Is the language your Windows language? Any cut-off text?
  3. Tekken 4: Build page: build tools (missing ones offered for install), choose the ISO in the Explorer dialog, Build game, then Play a fight with sound.
  4. Tekken 5 DR: install or choose your T5DR folder, build with your .pkg and .rap, Play.
  5. Online: log in with Remember me, search, cancel, search again, restart the launcher: are you still logged in?
  6. Quick access > Check for launcher updates: it must say the launcher is up to date.
  7. Uninstall (Windows Settings > Apps): your games and saves stay.

Write OK / error / not checked for each step; for an error: what you did and what happened.

Testanleitung (Tester, Deutsch)

  1. SHA-256 des Downloads mit der Tabelle unten vergleichen. Setup starten, in einen neuen Ordner installieren, Launcher aus dem Startmenü starten.
  2. Regal: zwei Kacheln. Mit Pad (Richtungen, A, B, LB/RB) und Maus bedienen. Ist die Sprache deine Windows-Sprache? Abgeschnittene Texte?
  3. Tekken 4: Build-Seite: Build-Werkzeuge (fehlende werden zur Installation angeboten), ISO im Explorer-Dialog wählen, Spiel bauen, dann Play: ein Kampf mit Ton.
  4. Tekken 5 DR: installieren oder deinen T5DR-Ordner wählen, mit deinem .pkg und .rap bauen, Play.
  5. Online: mit Angemeldet bleiben einloggen, suchen, abbrechen, wieder suchen, Launcher neu starten: bist du noch eingeloggt?
  6. Schnellzugriff > Nach Launcher-Updates suchen: es muss "aktuell" kommen.
  7. Deinstallieren (Windows-Einstellungen > Apps): deine Spiele und Spielstände bleiben.

Zu jedem Punkt: OK / Fehler / nicht geprüft; bei Fehler: was du gemacht hast und was passiert ist.

  • Tekken 4: use Collect logs in the launcher. Tekken 5: use Report a problem in T5DR's window or Create local report in the launcher. Both make one zip on your PC. Look inside before you send it and remove anything you do not want to share.
  • Say what you did, what you expected, what happened, and your Windows version.
  • Never post passwords, your package, license or ISO.
