v0.5.13
- Approval cards stay answerable for as long as they are up. The permission hook had a 30-second timeout, so after 30 s Allow or Deny from the notch did nothing. It is now 310 s, matching the card. After upgrading, run
agent-islandonce so the new hook timeout is installed. - A card closes only when its own call is answered. Before, two identical commands in one session (for example a subagent's) could close each other's card. A card now closes when its own command runs or when you press Esc in the terminal.
- cmux: if a reply can't be typed into a busy Claude session, it is queued and sent when the turn ends, instead of being dropped.
- Claude Code background jobs no longer jump to the tab they were started from.
Checked with a real Claude Code session in cmux: Yes in the terminal, Esc in the terminal, and Allow from the notch on a card held for 40 s.
v0.5.12
- cmux: replies you type in the notch now go straight into that session's terminal and are submitted.
- Approval cards answered in the terminal now leave the notch. Before, the card stayed up after you answered in the terminal: clicking it seemed to work but did nothing, and the next approval waited behind it. The card now goes as soon as the command runs, the turn ends, or you press Esc in the terminal.
Checked with real Claude Code, Codex and Cursor sessions in cmux: jumping from another workspace, Allow, Deny, a question, and answering in the terminal.
v0.5.11
- cmux: clicking a row or a notification now lands on the agent's exact cmux terminal, switching workspace if needed. Before, cmux sessions went to Ghostty, to the Warp tab cmux was launched from, or only brought cmux forward. macOS asks once to let Agent Island control cmux.
v0.5.10
- The plan approval card has a Chat ⌘⌥J button. It jumps to the agent's chat and leaves the plan to the chat's own prompt, which offers choices the card doesn't (auto-accept edits, keep planning with feedback).
v0.5.9
- The resting bar no longer covers the menu bar beside the notch. At rest it shows only the working pulse, the agent's face and bare counts; hover the notch to see what the agent is doing. Before, the activity line and counts could take up to 740 pt of the menu bar while any agent ran, hiding app menus and the status icons next to the notch.
v0.5.8
- Allow / Deny from the notch now actually reach Claude Code. The permission hook answered in a format Claude Code ignores for permission prompts, so the terminal kept asking after you clicked. The auto-approve rules had the same problem. Re-run
agent-islandafter upgrading so the fixed hooks are installed. - Installing no longer pops a macOS keychain dialog for github.com (#10). The build fetched Sparkle's public package with a keychain lookup it never needed.
v0.5.7
- Clicking a notification (the notch toast or the macOS banner) now opens its agent on the first click. The toast's click area used to update slowly, so the first clicks did nothing, and it could vanish while you reached for it. The banner only opened the app, which has no window.
- A notification whose agent is gone opens the panel instead of doing nothing.
- Claude Code background jobs no longer jump into the tab they were started from (someone else's chat). Their row offers the attach command.
Agent Island 0.5.6
One step after installing
Most agents pick up the hooks by themselves. Two ask you first, once:
- Codex: run
codex, type/hooksand trust the Agent Island entries. Until then Codex skips new or changed hooks. - Gemini CLI: hooks run only in folders you trust. Run
geminiin your project and trust the folder when it asks. - Claude Code, Cursor and OpenCode: nothing to approve.
Restart any session that was already running: the Cursor CLI, Gemini CLI and OpenCode load hooks only when a session starts. The installer now prints these steps too.
Installing with an AI agent? The README has a prompt to paste. It lets the agent do the install, then hands the two approvals back to you without bypassing them.
Upgrade
brew upgrade agent-island && agent-islandAgent Island 0.5.5
Installs that fix themselves
./install.shnow checks what the build needs before it starts, and fixes it on the spot:- Command Line Tools missing: it opens Apple's installer, waits for it, then carries on.
- Swift too old: it installs the newer Command Line Tools from Software Update, asking for your password, then carries on.
- Half-upgraded toolchain: it offers to reinstall it.
- macOS older than 14: it stops with a clear message, because a script can't upgrade macOS.
- The app now compiles on Swift 5.10 (Sonoma's Xcode 15 tools) too.
- Settings are read correctly under any locale. An ASCII locale crashed the install, and a Latin-1 locale corrupted non-ASCII text.
- A newly created Cursor
hooks.jsonnow includes theversionCursor requires. - Codex runs new hooks only after you approve them in
/hooks. The installer now says so.
Session fixes (from a Warp / Terminal / iTerm2 / MonoCode × Claude / Codex / Cursor test matrix)
- Codex goes idle as soon as a turn ends, instead of 90 seconds later.
- Codex sessions stay bound in folders where Codex left its background daemon running.
- Cursor chats started as
cursor-agent "prompt"now show up. - A leftover
cursor-agentworker process no longer attaches to a finished chat, which made its row jump to the wrong tab.
