Third dev pre-release of the 1.5.0 minor
Copy, move and repeat diary items across days, choose the day when adding from the Foods page, app icon shortcuts, Per 100 g on the Nutrition Facts label, Norwegian, more label nutrients, and a round of Trace and diary fixes.
Heads-up before installing:
- Add to Diary on the Foods page now asks which day as well as which meal, and keeps you on the Foods page afterwards.
- App icon shortcuts come with this APK on Android; in the installed web app they show once the app updates or is reinstalled, depending on the browser.
- If NutriTrace is on your iPhone home screen, remove it and add it again from Safari to get the new icon.
Added
- Norwegian (#300). Choose Norsk bokmål in Settings > Regional & Units > Language; a browser or phone set to Norwegian picks it on its own. Translated in full on Weblate by @JohannesKi.
- More label nutrients (#281). Starch, Selenium, Copper, Manganese, Choline, Iodine and Pantothenic Acid (B5) are built in, in the order they appear on a Nutrition Facts label. Open Food Facts and USDA fill them in, and the label scanner reads them.
- Copy and move several diary items at once, and repeat a copy (#283). Select Multiple now has Move and Copy next to Delete. Copy takes the selected items, from any meals, to another day, each into its own meal or all into one; Move takes them to another meal, on the same day or another. Copying one item, a meal or a selection can also repeat for up to the next 14 days, and if a day can't be saved the message names it. Thanks @fatman00.
- Choose the day when adding, moving or copying (#267). Add to Diary on the Foods page asks which day as well as which meal, starting on the day the Diary shows, and Move to Meal can move an item to another day. Every day choice has Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow buttons, and the message says where it went ("Added to yesterday's Dinner"). Thanks @jsapede.
- Per 100 g on the Nutrition Facts label (#297). Settings > Foods > Right Column swaps % Daily Value for the amount in 100 g (100 ml for drinks), so foods with different serving sizes are easy to compare. Thanks @fatman00.
- App icon shortcuts (#278). Long-press the app icon (Android, or the installed web app) for Scan Barcode, Log Food, Log Water and Log Weight. Scan Barcode opens the scanner and Log Food the add screen (on the Foods, Meals or Recipes tab used last), both for today and the meal for the time of day; the screen says where the food goes ("Adding to today's Lunch") and Change picks another meal or day. Log Water and Log Weight open today's water and body stats. Signed out, the shortcut opens once you sign in. Thanks @jsapede.
Changed
- Vitamins and minerals follow Nutrition Facts order. Phosphorus, Magnesium and Zinc moved to where the label puts them. A custom order you set in Settings → Nutrients is kept.
Fixed
- The app's icon on an iPhone home screen fills its square. Added from Safari, it showed a white rim around the rounded icon, because iOS fills the see-through corners of the icon with white. Remove the icon from the home screen and add it again to get the new one.
- Select Multiple's buttons show with a Gradient or Animated banner. Cancel and Delete were white on the plain header that Select Multiple uses, so they couldn't be seen.
- Trace and MCP read weekday goals on the right days (#285). Trace's summary of today used the week's highest target instead of today's, and the goals Trace, MCP and
GET /api/v1/goalsreturn didn't say their weekday list starts on Sunday, so AI models could put a day's target on the wrong day. They now also give each target by named day and today's targets; the existing fields are unchanged. With energy in kJ, the calories in Trace's summary of today were kcal numbers labeled kJ; they're now converted. Thanks @kgenerozov. - Choosing Light or Dark sticks when your system switches themes. The app went light or dark with your device until it was reopened, and with System the browser bar lost your accent color.
- Trace no longer says nothing is logged when it couldn't read your diary (#288). A failed read of today's diary looked like an empty day, so Trace could answer "you haven't logged anything" without checking. It now looks the day up instead, and water shows as unknown. Thanks @jsapede.
- Asking Trace to save a review card says which button to tap (#292). Only the card's buttons save it, so you can check the estimate first; typing "save it" now gets a plain answer naming the button, never a claim that it was saved. Thanks @jsapede.
- Changing a food's serving size rescales the values you just typed (#298). With the link toggle on, a nutrient typed after the editor opened was left as it was, and a corrected one was set back to its old value times the new ratio. The nutrition card now also says what serving its values are for, such as Values for 60 g. Thanks @ThomasLeMezo.
- Uploading an Android app's diary to a server no longer sends a webhook for each day. When an Android app used without a server connected to one, every day it uploaded sent
meal.logged,water.logged,body_stat.loggedandgoal.achievedas if logged just then. The Upload now sends none, as restoring a backup never did. - Clone on the web makes a copy again (#299). A meal or recipe that came from the Android app said Cloned and made nothing, and cloning a recipe imported from CookTrace renamed the original to "Copy of". Thanks @fatman00.
- A server that stops answering counts as no connection within seconds. When the connection stays up but nothing answers (a gym's Wi-Fi sign-in page, a weak signal, a server gone quiet behind a VPN), the installed web app waited on the browser, often for minutes: an empty diary, and a food you logged never saved. Now, with your account kept in this browser, it opens in a few seconds and shows what it has kept, changes wait to be sent as they do offline, and everything goes up once the server answers again. Whole lists get up to 10 seconds on a slow server, and a server that answers again is used again at once. Food searches, wellness providers, coaching, the adaptive TDEE and Trace wait as long as they take, as before. Signing out of the web app also clears the pictures this browser kept.
- The unit list stays against its field as you type. Near the bottom of the screen the unit list opened above the field and, as typing narrowed it to one match, floated rows above it.
- NutriTrace installs and updates behind a sign-in proxy (found with notetrace#37, thanks @harikiran-lab). The browser now sends the proxy's cookie when it reads the app's manifest, which a proxy such as VoidAuth, Authelia or Authentik used to turn away. From now on, a reload after an update brings the new version at once, and when the proxy's own session has ended, the installed app opens its sign-in page instead of the saved copy you couldn't sign back in from. Offline, with the server down behind the proxy, or with no answer within 3 seconds, the saved copy opens as before. Under
BASE_URL, SSO sign-in in an installed browser app reaches the server. An export or a backup opened in a browser tab no longer stays in the installed app, where the next account on the same browser could open it; the old copies are deleted when the app updates. - Trace no longer shows a blank answer when the model sends back nothing (#286). A model that answered with no words and no tool call left an empty reply in the chat, and only your question was saved to the conversation. Trace now asks the model once more, and if the answer is still empty, says so instead. Thanks @jsapede.
- Trace stops when a model keeps repeating the same lookup (#287). A model that kept asking for the same lookup used up every step of the answer on it. Trace now gives it the result it already has the second time, and the third time asks for an answer right away, naming the lookup it got stuck on. Anything that logs or changes something still runs every time it's asked. Thanks @jsapede.
