NCC 0.1.1 — first Windows bundle

Nysiris Chat Commander as a self-contained Windows build: no Python, Rust, or
build tools required.

Download

  • ncc-0.1.1-windows-x64.zip (Windows 10/11, x64)
  • SHA256SUMS.txt

Verify, extract anywhere, run ncc.exe:

Get-FileHash .\ncc-0.1.1-windows-x64.zip -Algorithm SHA256
# compare with SHA256SUMS.txt

What's inside

  • ncc.exe — PySide6 desktop client (roster, 1:1 chats, rooms).
  • ncc-daemon.exe — Rust sidecar built with the real Nym transport
(--features nym), bundled next to the client and discovered automatically.
  • LICENSE, README.md, SECURITY.md.

Running

  • Default launch is the in-memory transport: no network, safe for a first look.
  • Real mixnet: ncc.exe --transport nym (first connect fetches topology and can
    take a few seconds).
  • State lives in %APPDATA%\NCC (identity, contacts, encrypted history, Nym
    identity). Delete it to reset.
  • No chat service and no server-side history: DMs go to Nym addresses, rooms are
client-side fan-out, history stays encrypted on disk.

Changes

  • New packaging pipeline: packaging/ncc.spec, scripts/build-release.ps1, and
a tag-driven release.yml that builds on windows-latest and publishes the
    zip with checksums.
  • Frozen daemon discovery now checks the executable directory and PyInstaller's
_MEIPASS, so the bundled app starts without NCC_DAEMON.
  • Client version 0.1.1; Nysiris-Core pinned at v0.1.3.

Notes

  • The build is unsigned, so SmartScreen/Defender may warn on first launch.
  • Experimental, not independently audited. Until OS keychain support lands, a
development master key is used for local encryption.
  • Attachments, tray notifications, and multi-device sync are not implemented.
