- Centered battle sprites. Restored the intended placement of affected regional, Mega and Primal forms in the battle frame.
- Kept the original overworld camera. The zoomed overworld camera advertised in v1.0.7 has been reverted.
- Included the new indoor camera settings. The indoor camera changes are preserved in this build.
Includes the earlier Heartfelt Gold features and fixes, including updated hg-engine sprites, Dragon's Den encounters, Gym level-cap fixes and corrected Pokémon evolutions.

Verification and known limits
The supplied patch decoded against the documented clean USA source and reproduced the validated v18 feature build byte for byte. All 384 named filesystem files retain the v18 input's contents, including all 627 map headers, 1,139 script members, existing dialogue, and the v18 map and matrix changes. Two archive containers were repacked with identical members.
The preservation audit passed for project data, configuration, dynamic-header hooks and custom cameras. A headless copied-save test booted, continued, saved and reloaded in a fresh emulator process without modifying the original save. This release verification is not a full playthrough or a hardware test.
The project remains a work in progress, with some awkward or glitchy tiles and incomplete hg-engine battle/form features. Not every new form has complete front artwork. The prior engine validation also retains known upstream issues involving Disguise, Ice Face, Illusion with Neutralizing Gas, Wandering Spirit when the defender faints, Ripen/Fling and Substitute; these are not advertised as fixed in v1.0.7.
Please report problems through GitHub Issues, including the release version, location and steps to reproduce.

Verification
The supplied patch decoded against the documented clean USA source and reproduced the completed v14 EXP All output byte for byte. The build audit passed: all 384 named filesystem files match the v14 input exactly, including all 627 map headers, 1,139 script banks, and existing dialogue. This preserves the Kanto legendary level edits in the input scripts.
The build retains EXP All and the current Mart, Item, Evolution, and Trainer AI changes. Existing EXP code tests passed for both flat and scaled formulas. This release verification did not include an emulator or hardware playtest.
EXP All is adapted from zebben's exp-share branch, with additional handling for Eggs and held Exp. Shares in existing saves.

Verification
The release patch decoded against the clean USA source and reproduced the completed v11-Test1 EXP All engine build byte for byte. The build audit passed: all 627 map headers, 1,139 script banks, and existing dialogue were preserved from v11-Test1, with two EXP All toggle messages appended to bag text bank 10. The engine-generated item attributes and trainer data are the other named filesystem differences from that input.
Tests of the actual EXP code passed for both flat and scaled formulas, including multiple participants, Eggs, fainted Pokémon, and compatibility with held Exp. Shares from older saves. Source review confirms the five-badge Armor unlocks and six-badge Scroll unlocks. In-game testing remains necessary; these automated checks do not certify battle or menu behavior on an emulator or hardware.
EXP All is adapted from zebben's exp-share branch, with additional handling for Eggs and held Exp. Shares in existing saves.
The player download is the .xdelta asset. The accompanying checksums.sha256 file verifies downloads.
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.4
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.4
Adds an optional Level Cap NPC to 24 Pokémon Centers across Johto and Kanto. Speak to the NPC to see the current cap, disable it by setting it to 100, restore the badge-based cap, or adjust it one level at a time. The menu can be cancelled, and adjustments stop at levels 1 and 100.
This release includes the Route 42 Hiker fix and the regional-form, battle sprite positioning, and Pokédex fixes from v1.0.3 and earlier.
Updating and save compatibility
In-game saves from earlier Heartfelt Gold versions are expected to remain compatible; this update does not change the save layout. Back up your save, then import or copy it for the new ROM. Match its filename to the ROM where required by your emulator. Boot from the in-game save instead of restoring an emulator save state made with an older build.
Download Heartfelt-Gold-v1.0.4-Patch.xdelta and apply it directly to a clean Pokémon HeartGold (USA) ROM. Do not apply it over an older patched ROM. Transfer your save separately.

Verification
The supplied xDelta decoded against the clean USA source and reproduced the v9 HG-Engine clean build byte for byte. The build audit passed: all 627 map headers, 1,139 script members, and 943 text members match the v9 Test input. All 24 Level Cap NPCs are bound to their Center scripts in the decoded ROM. The only named filesystem difference from the v9 Test input is bonus Chuck's trainer party, whose levels follow the current HG-Engine source (five at 36 and one at 38).
The NPC interactions have not yet been playtested in game. The player download is the .xdelta asset. The accompanying checksums.sha256 file verifies downloads.
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.3
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.3
Fixes the crash when interacting with the Hiker on Route 42. Includes all v1.0.2 regional-form, battle sprite positioning, and Pokédex fixes.
Updating and save compatibility
Compatible with in-game saves from previous Heartfelt Gold versions. No new game is required. Back up your save, then import or copy it for the new ROM. Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.2
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.2
This update fixes regional-form Pokémon, their battle sprite positioning, and a Pokédex freeze. It includes the fixes from v1.0.1.
Fixes
- Regional forms in wild encounters and trainer parties now use the correct base species and form number when creating Pokémon. This fixes the invalid species/form combinations behind the reported post-capture Pokédex registration crash.
- Battle sprites now use the regional form's animation and positioning metadata. This lowers Alolan Diglett by 23 DS pixels and Hisuian Sneasel by 16 DS pixels compared with the incorrect base-form positioning in the earlier test build. Form resolution also avoids converting an already adjusted sprite ID twice.
- Pokédex height and weight text loads one entry at a time. Loading the entire expanded text bank could exhaust the available heap and overwrite executable memory, freezing the game while viewing an entry after searching.
- The two-slot wild held-item rule now reads the form-specific item slots.
Save compatibility
Save import friendly and compatible with previous Heartfelt Gold versions. No new game is required. The save format is unchanged.
Back up your existing in-game save, then import it or copy it with the filename expected by your emulator for the new ROM. Start the new ROM and load the in-game save. Emulator save states contain the older game's code and memory, so do not use an older build's save state to start this update.
The form correction applies when Pokémon are generated. It does not automatically rewrite malformed regional-form Pokémon previously stored by an older build.

Apply this patch directly to the clean USA source. Do not stack it on an older Heartfelt Gold ROM. Your save can be transferred separately.
Verification
The supplied patch decoded against the clean USA source and reproduced the approved Test 4 ROM byte for byte. The hg-engine build and DSPRE archive audit passed. Compiled ARM tests covered 1,536 species/form inputs, 1,828 sprite form lookups, and the image-to-positioning handoff for Alolan Diglett, Hisuian Sneasel, and a normal Charizard. The final ROM retains the corrected height/weight message-loading instructions. These checks do not represent a full game playthrough.
The engine changes are recorded in the v1.0.2 source patch. It applies after the v1.0.1 source patch on hg-engine commit 398a30209.
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.1
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.1
This update fixes newly caught wild Pokémon losing their held items when they join a party with an open slot. Battle cleanup now restores items only for Pokémon present when the battle began. It also prevents a caught Pokémon's item from being treated as a newly stolen item and added to the Bag.
Wild species with two different configured held items now hold one every encounter, with a 50% chance for each, including with a Compound Eyes lead. Species with the same item in both slots still hold it every time. One-slot and no-item species keep their previous behavior.
The build includes Cyclizar wild encounters at Whirl Islands B3F and Route 24, plus updated trainer and Pokédex habitat data. Release details.
Previously caught Pokémon are not repaired retroactively. Check your Bag for a stone that may have moved there, or catch a new Pokémon using v1.0.1. Back up your save before switching ROM builds.

Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.0
Pokémon Heartfelt Gold v1.0.0
This is the first major release under the Pokémon Heartfelt Gold name, succeeding HeartGold Retiled Expansion v6.12.1.
Highlights
- Reworked regular wild encounters and trainer parties throughout Johto and Kanto.
- Added a broad set of scripted Legendary, Mythical, and other special encounters. The Static Encounter Guide records 87 named
WildBattlecommands from the supplied DSPRE script export, with species, level, and script bank. - Changed the starter choices to Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, each holding its matching Mega Stone in the current hg-engine source.
- Configured National Dex access, reusable TMs, forgettable HMs, uncapped overworld and battle frame rate, a variable-driven level cap, and expanded mart inventories.
- Continued map and visual work. See the player guide index for encounter, trainer, evolution, and feature details.
