v0.16.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 31 Oct 02:39
  • Follows the game you start. Start a different game and Quest Compendium switches to it with "Switched to …" and a fresh conversation. Go back to an earlier game and its conversation comes back.
  • More than Steam games. Non-Steam shortcuts and emulators are recognized too: EmuDeck, ES-DE, RetroArch and standalone emulators, including Flatpak and AppImage builds and Windows emulators run through Proton. The game is read from the file the emulator loaded, or from RetroArch's history, else the shortcut's own name (without tags like "(GC)").
  • "Which game is this?" If a file doesn't say which game it is, Quest Compendium asks once and remembers your answer for that file.
  • Stays on your Deck. Detection runs on the Deck. Only the game's name is used.
  • New setting: "Follow the game you start". Turn it off to keep your current conversation. A Switch button appears when a different game starts.

  • The same guide as the website. The guide screens now show what questcompendium.com shows: every section, everything that's live (no more "coming soon" for places and quests the site already has), the same short names ("Ciri"), the kind icons, the walkthrough with its route, choices and advice, and the pictures. When the website's guide gets better, the Deck has it the next day.
  • Tidier compendium. Its sections start folded, each with its count, so the areas stay close at hand.

  • Premium yearly. The Get Premium QR page now gives both plans: $4.99 a month, or $39.99 a year (save 33%). You pick on your phone. Already subscribed? Manage your plan there to switch between monthly and yearly.

  • Sign in by email. Under the link QR code, "Or email me a sign-in link": type your address, open the email on
your phone or PC, confirm the code shown on the Deck, and the Deck signs in by itself. No Google account needed.
  • Premium from the Deck. Settings shows your plan. "Get Premium" shows a QR code that opens Premium on your phone,
where you sign in with the same account; Premium then shows up on the Deck by itself. It's also on the
out-of-questions screen, in place of "About Premium".

  • Your questions and the countdown. The status line shows "Pro 1 · Fast 3 · ⏱ 5:26:41", ticking every second, like
    the desktop app.
  • Quick questions that fit where you are. Before you ask anything: What should I do next?, Anything I can miss
here?, and Best gear for where I am (How do I beat this? in a fight). After an answer, two follow-ups. The rest are
    in the pull-down.
  • Hint mode. "Just a hint" is no longer a default question. Turn on Hint mode in Settings to get it back.

  • Missables where you are. When an answer is about a place our guide covers, it ends with what you could miss there for good and why, up to three, with "more in the guide" for the rest. Press one to open the guide at it. Tick it off in the guide and it leaves the list. This doesn't use a question.
  • Guide items spotted on screen. With a screenshot, an answer can now mark things our guide lists in your area (in amber, "From the guide"). Ticking one ticks it in the guide too. Answers also know where you last were, so they use that place's guide.
  • Update now. When a new version is out, Update now hands it to Decky, which asks you to confirm and installs it. If that doesn't work on your Deck, the reinstall steps show instead.

  • Know when there's an update. When a newer version is out, the panel says so, with How to update: the same "Install Plugin from URL" link as before. Your settings and sign-in are kept. Not now hides it until the next one.
  • A cleaner quest log. Objectives are a few words with one line saying where or how, like the desktop app.
  • Characters, places and collectibles. Guides list them on the game's page, each with its own page: what it is, where to find it (for characters, chapter by chapter), how to get there, shops, services, missions and more. Area pages link the ones they mention, and ones still being written are greyed out as coming soon.
  • Search the whole guide. One search box finds steps, items, characters and places and jumps straight to the entry. Apostrophes are optional.
  • When your questions come back. The status line shows your next top-up, for example "+8 Pro · +25 Fast in 13h 20m", also under the limit message.
  • Link your account in one step. Guests see a QR code to link with their phone on their last question of the day. Linking keeps your conversation, quest log and guide ticks.
  • Hidden achievements shown plainly, with their tips, no tapping to reveal.

  • Pro or Fast, your pick. A switch above Send picks the model for your next question, as in the desktop app: Pro for the best answers, Fast for quicker ones, each with the questions you have left today. Your pick is remembered. When it runs out, the panel switches to the other one with a short note, and back again once it has questions.
  • Questions left, from the server. The status line shows both counts ("Pro 7 · Fast 24") with the bar for the model you're using. The day resets at midnight where you are: the Deck sends its time zone.

  • Guides open fast. The guide list now comes from a small index published with the website (name, cover, page count, whether it's checked against sources), so it no longer waits on the server and "The server took too long to respond" is gone from the first load. The list is kept on the Deck and shows straight away, refreshing in the background. If it can't load, Retry tries again instead of leaving a dead end; guide pages get longer timeouts with one automatic retry, and a guide's pages load only when you open it.
  • Your guides first. The running game's guide is at the top, then the guides you opened recently, then the rest A–Z or by popularity (a switch under the search box). Search filters the list as you type. Guides that are fully checked against sources say so.
  • Cleaner guide header. Back with the game's name has its own row, cut to one line with "…" when the name is long, and Full screen is a compact button at the end of that row. Left and right move between them on the D-pad.
  • 👍 / 👎 under every answer. Next to Report, in the panel and on the full answer page; a 👎 can say what was wrong (wrong place, wrong info, marker off, not helpful), which helps us see which games and questions need work.
  • Hold to talk. A Hold to talk button in the panel: hold A on it to ask out loud, let go to send it with a screenshot (a touch tap starts and stops). It records from the Deck's microphone and only shows when a recorder is available.

Catches up with the desktop app:

  • New quick questions. The buttons are now "What should I do next?", "I'm stuck. How do I get past this?", "Anything missable here?" and "Help me with this fight", and the More questions pull-down has "What's the best choice here?", "Will I miss anything if I leave?", "Is this worth keeping or using?" and "Just a hint, please, no spoilers". Each asks for exactly that kind of answer, the same as on the desktop, and the hint questions give a gentle nudge without spoiling the solution.
  • New follow-ups. Under an answer: "What's after that?", "Show me where on screen" (when the answer was about a screenshot and one can be taken now; it marks the spots on a fresh one) and "Just a hint instead". "Explain that more simply" is gone. All in the desktop app's wording, in every language.
  • Report this answer. A flag button under every answer opens a short form: offensive or harmful, wrong or misleading, or something else, with an optional comment. An answer reported as offensive or harmful is hidden right away, with "Show anyway".
  • Missables you can find. Missable items in guides say where they are starting from something you can find (a waypoint, a named character, a landmark or map coordinates) down to the exact container, alongside How and Missable because. The area summary box (0.10.1), with directions from a nearby place, fills in as each guide is updated.
