Security

• When no link waits for the Bypass panel, the panel removes its web view. The cookies and the page cache of the panel go at the same time, and macOS can free the memory. Before, they stayed until you quit the app.

Fixes

• The app cannot crash at login when a resumed transfer completes while the app reads the transfer list. The app now reads this list one time, not one time for each transfer.
• A preview window that macOS opens again at launch now loads its file when the account or the folder link is ready. Before, the window showed "The file is not available." and stayed empty.
• The File menu has no New Window item now. This item opened an empty preview window with a spinner that did not stop.
• When you rename a file, the app selects only the name before the extension, as Finder does. Before, the new name also removed the extension, and the file lost its thumbnail and its preview. Folders and names such as .env still select all the text.

New

• File > Download (⇧⌘D) downloads the selected items, in list view and in grid view. File > Copy Link copies the public links of the selected items in your account. Copy Link has no shortcut, so a wrong key cannot make public links.
• Cancel All asks first when more than one transfer runs, and shows the number of transfers. You cannot retry a cancelled transfer.
• VoiceOver reads the messages at the top of the window, for example "Link copied". VoiceOver also reads the correct names of the icon buttons, for example Pause, Retry and Show in Finder. In Settings > Bypass, the order arrows show the tooltips Move Up and Move Down.

The changes were tested with offline tests only, not at run time with a live account.

MegaGlass 0.2.3

Security

• Each preview file gets the macOS quarantine attribute before Quick Look opens it. Quick Look then loads no remote content for an HTML or SVG preview.
• Files that the app makes, such as downloads and synced files, get the quarantine attribute. The app data in ~/Library does not get it.
• Folder downloads always clean the file names, also names that are not UTF-8.
• Bypass loads the rules for local addresses before the first web view opens. The Bypass page scripts run in their own content world.

Fixes

• The question before many links also counts protector links and shows the two counts. Before, a clipboard with many protector links went to Bypass with no question.
• The captcha wait in the Bypass panel stops after 10 minutes.
• Correct text for the default browser and for the Gatekeeper steps after an update.
• The README tells that the izen.lol page gets your izen.lol key in its address.

The changes were tested with offline tests only, not at run time with a live account.

MegaGlass 0.2.2

Fixes

• Videos start again much sooner after a jump. After a jump, the MEGA SDK downloaded about 2 s of video before the new position first, and on a slow network the video waited for it: up to 36 s in a test. Now the download starts at the new position. In the same test, the first data came after 0–7 s instead of 8–37 s.
• When the player waits for a large reserve, but the video loads faster than it plays, the video now plays at once. Before, you had to press pause and play. When the network is too slow for the video, the player still waits.

The fix was tested on a live account with a diagnostic build. A video that needs more speed than the network gives can still stop.

MegaGlass 0.2.1

Fixes

• Sort by Date Modified now puts folders in the order of the date that the list shows. Before, folders were in name order, because MEGA keeps no modification time for folders.
• Search results show the real size of folders, so sort by size matches the sizes in the list.

New

• Each folder keeps its own view (list or grid) and its own sort. The other places (Incoming Shares, Outgoing Shares, Links, Favourites, Recents) also keep their own. The choices stay after you quit the app and are removed when you log out. A folder with no choice of its own shows the default view. Folder links keep their view and sort only in their window.
• When you close the link that you look at, the next open link shows. Cloud Drive shows only when no link stays open.

The new behavior was tested with offline tests only, not with a live account.

MegaGlass 0.2.0

This release fixes the problems that a full security and code review found before the first users.

Security

• Downloaded files get the macOS quarantine attribute, so Gatekeeper checks downloaded apps, installers and scripts.
• File names with bidi or control characters (for example a .terminal file that looks like a .pdf) are shown and saved without these characters.
• The network stack is now curl 8.23.0 with OpenSSL 3.6.5. The old stack (curl 8.14.1 with Apple Secure Transport) could get no more curl security fixes. Certificate pinning to MEGA stays on.
• Thumbnails from shared folders are decoded only for the image types that MEGA clients make, with a size limit. Video thumbnails and previews cannot load other files.
• Bypass reads pages off the main thread with limits, keeps at most 50 MEGA links per job, and blocks local network addresses.
• Clipboard watch uses the macOS pasteboard privacy API and reads a copy only when macOS finds a web address in it.
• Only one MegaGlass process runs at a time.

Data safety

• Opening the app from a MEGA link no longer deletes the saved open links.
• Two-way sync and backup stop, and do not delete cloud files, when a folder listing fails or the volume changes. The status shows stopped syncs. Unsafe sync folders (home, system and app folders) are refused.
• Emptying the Rubbish Bin, deleting a version, and removing a contact or a public link ask for confirmation.
• Long file names are shortened to fit, so downloads do not fail at the end.

Other fixes

• The app shows when MEGA ends the session or the engine stops with an error.
• Links from other apps open the main window.
• Links with a query (for example ?fbclid) keep their key.
• Folder links start their engine only when you open them, with a limit and Close All.
• Many smaller fixes in transfers, previews, the browser and the menu bar.

License

MegaGlass is now GPL-3.0. The license and the third-party notices are in Settings > General and in the disk image.

The app was not tested at run time with a live account. The engine passed megaglass-bench (public test links) with the new network stack.
