When using a non-default asset, the ray tracing resources might be null. In UpgradeResourcesIfNeeded() we were testing/patching the default HDRP asset but not the one currently in use. I kept the tests for the default asset and added tests for the current asset too.
Testing status
I have tested using the project in the bug ticket and the problem does not reproduce anymore.
