🎧 ResonaDeck 1.5.1
Long-Track Crossfade Fix, Precision Countdown & Playback Reliability
Developer: Valentine
Platform: Steam Deck / Decky Loader
Release: 1.5.1 Stable
ResonaDeck 1.5.1 delivers important improvements to long-duration audio playback and crossfade timing.
This update addresses an issue affecting lengthy recordings, including tracks lasting three hours or longer, while introducing a more precise and readable crossfade countdown.
The goal is simple: make ResonaDeck more reliable without changing the experience users already enjoy.
🔧 Fixed: Long-Track Crossfade Playback
Previously, ResonaDeck could incorrectly interpret the duration of lengthy audio tracks.
For example, a three-hour recording containing 10,800 seconds could be incorrectly interpreted as lasting approximately 10.8 seconds.
The crossfade scheduler also contained a duration limit that could reject recordings longer than two hours.
These problems could contribute to premature track transitions.
Improvements
- Corrected seconds-versus-milliseconds duration handling.
- Removed the previous two-hour crossfade scheduling limit.
- Improved handling of multi-hour recordings.
- Preserved authoritative Plex track durations when the browser reports incomplete media information.
- Added protection against unexpected premature stream endings.
- Improved recovery behavior to prevent unnecessary track skipping.
Three-hour track playback has been verified on physical Steam Deck hardware.
⏱️ New: Precision Crossfade Countdown
Crossfade status now displays hours, minutes, and seconds automatically.
Instead of showing thousands of seconds or omitting the seconds from longer countdowns, ResonaDeck provides a readable timer.
Examples
- 3h 00m 00s
- 2h 59m 08s
- 1h 01m 01s
- 3m 08s
- 8s
The countdown continues updating every second, including during multi-hour recordings.
Updated Displays
- Quick Access crossfade countdown.
- Full Manager crossfade status.
- Playback duration diagnostics.
- Crossfade history and timing information.
The actual crossfade overlap settings remain unchanged, including the existing 3, 5, 8, and 10-second options.
🎵 Existing Features Preserved
ResonaDeck 1.5.1 retains the established features from previous releases:
- Plex and Jellyfin support.
- Music, audiobooks, and podcasts.
- Surprise Me and Keep Playing.
- Automatic music queue replenishment.
- Premium glass-style interface.
- Controller-friendly navigation.
- Native Steam keyboard support.
- Sleep and wake playback recovery.
- Game Theme Music visualizer integration.
- Existing playback and crossfade controls.
No unnecessary interface redesigns or unrelated features were introduced.
✅ Testing & Stability
The update includes automated regression checks covering long-duration calculations, crossfade countdown formatting, playback completion, and premature stream recovery.
The long-track playback correction has also been successfully tested on an actual Steam Deck.
As always, audio streaming performance can vary depending on network conditions, media formats, and server configurations.
