gitcraft 0.3.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 01 Nov 20:43

Tabs

  • Drag tabs to reorder them. Grab a tab and move it along the strip: the others slide out of its way, and it stays where you drop it.
  • Settings in their own tab. The settings icon (or "Settings" in the command palette) opens them in a tab that fills the window below the strip, instead of a dialog. Clicking it again brings that tab forward; close it like any other.

Also

  • The window is now titled "GitCraft".

System File
Windows gitcraft-v0.3.3-windows-x86_64-setup.exe (installer) or .zip
macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) gitcraft-v0.3.3-macos-universal.dmg or .zip — the first time, right-click the app → Open, as it isn't notarized

Commit messages

  • Edit a message in place. Double-click a commit's summary or description in the right pane to edit it, then save with the button or Ctrl+Enter (Esc cancels). On the latest commit only the message is amended: whatever you have staged stays staged. An older commit of the checked-out branch is rewritten with a rebase, like a reword in the interactive rebase, and your uncommitted changes are set aside and brought back. Both can be undone with Ctrl+Z.
  • Commits with merges after them can't be edited this way, as the rebase would flatten those merges; hovering the message tells you why.

Graph

  • Pull from the remote pill. Double-clicking the remote pill of the checked-out branch, when it's ahead of your branch, pulls it (git pull --ff-only). In the +N list it reads "double-click to pull".

Title bar

  • The new-version indicator now comes first, before all the title-bar icons, and the text in its menu has the same margin as the options below it.

gitcraft 0.3.1

Tabs

  • Your own icon and colour per tab. Right-click a repository tab to pick one of 16 icons (code, web, mobile, server, database, game…) and a highlight colour: blue by default, or teal, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple or gray. A coloured tab keeps its colour in the background too, so you can tell your repositories apart at a glance. The choice is saved per repository.
  • Tabs are square and fill the strip's whole height.

Graph

  • Checkout and pull. Double-clicking the pill of a local branch that is behind its remote checks it out and fast-forwards it (git pull --ff-only). Undo puts you back where you were and the branch where it was.
  • Right-click in the +N list. Every branch in the list a row's +N opens has the same menu as the row's own pill.
  • Cleaner lines. A line leaves or reaches a commit straight across, turns with a small rounded corner and then runs straight down its lane.
  • 2 px of space between commit rows; the rows themselves keep their size.

Also

  • A little more room between the rows of the left pane (branches, remotes, worktrees…).
  • The update check runs every 12 hours instead of once a day.

gitcraft 0.3.0

What's new

Stage part of a file

  • Each hunk of a diff has Stage hunk and Discard hunk (or Unstage hunk for staged changes).
  • Click the changed lines you want (Shift+click for a range) and stage, unstage or discard only those, in the unified or side-by-side view.
  • Discarding hunks or lines can be undone with Ctrl+Z.

Compare

  • Ctrl+click a second commit to list the files that differ between the two and open each diff. The Uncommitted changes row stands for the working tree.
  • Commit menu: Compare with… the selected commit, or with the working tree.
  • Branch menus: Changes x adds to main shows only what a branch changed since the two diverged, as a pull request shows it. Compare main with x shows every difference.
  • The right pane says how many commits each side is ahead. A checkbox switches between the two kinds of comparison, and Swap turns it around.

Search code

  • Ctrl+F has a Code mode that finds the commits that added or removed a piece of text in a file (git log -S).

Graph

  • After each commit's summary, the rest of its message is shown faded and cut to fit.

macOS

  • New universal build for Apple silicon and Intel (macOS 11 or later): .dmg (drag to Applications) and .zip.
  • The app isn't notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks it the first time. To open it, go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/gitcraft.app.
  • When gitcraft is opened from the Finder or the Dock, the commands it starts (git, gh, glab, your editor, the terminal) get your login shell's PATH, so Homebrew installs are found.

Also

  • Manual (F1, or the book icon in the title bar): what each part does and every keyboard shortcut.
  • Bigger, more spaced title bar icons, and more padding in tooltips.
  • Fix: on GitHub repositories, the authors' GitHub avatars now replace the Gravatar ones shown while they load.
