@Vet-TV Vet-TV released this 23 Oct 15:44
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.
  • Go Live can now use a protected gst-launch runner on systems with GStreamer but without PyGObject, including SteamOS configurations where the required GStreamer elements are present.
  • The runner receives the pipeline over stdin and disables Linux ptrace access before exec, keeping stream keys unreadable through process arguments. Streaming still fails closed if process privacy controls are unavailable.
  • Health statistics are unavailable when using the gst-launch runner; Go Live status and reconnect behavior remain available.

SteamOS hardware testing remains outstanding. See the README for runtime/plugin requirements and installation instructions.

Install / update

In Desktop Mode, run:

curl -L https://github.com/VetTV-Studios/deck-live/raw/main/install.sh | sh

Or install the ZIP below through Decky Developer settings.

@Vet-TV Vet-TV released this 19 Oct 04:26
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

Security fix. Updating is recommended for everyone.

  • Stream key protection: on systems without PyGObject (python3-gobject), Deck Live used a fallback that could make your stream key visible to other programs running on the same device. Deck Live now refuses to stream in that case and tells you how to fix it: install python3-gobject, or update Bazzite/SteamOS, then reload Decky.
  • Private settings: the settings file that holds your stream keys is now private to your account (mode 0600) from the moment it's created.
  • Redacted logs: stream keys and stream URLs are removed from logs and error messages.

If you use YouTube or Twitch on a device that was missing PyGObject, consider resetting your stream key on the platform as a precaution.

Install / update (no developer mode)

In Desktop Mode, open Konsole and run:

curl -L https://github.com/VetTV-Studios/deck-live/raw/main/install.sh | sh

Requires your sudo password. The installer writes to ~/homebrew/plugins, which is owned by root.

  • SteamOS (Steam Deck): the deck user has no password by default. If you've never set one, open Konsole in Desktop Mode and run passwd first, then run the installer.
  • Bazzite: use your normal account password.

Alternatively, download Deck-Live-1.0.2.zip and use Decky → Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP.

Tested on Legion Go / Bazzite. SteamOS is untested.

Deck Live 1.0.1

@Vet-TV Vet-TV released this 14 Oct 01:51
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.
  • New install.sh: one-line installer and updater (curl -L …/install.sh | sh) that needs no Decky developer mode. It downloads the latest release, swaps the plugin folder atomically, and restarts plugin_loader. It works with stock tools (curl, unzip or a python3 fallback, systemctl).
  • New uninstall.sh (PURGE=1 also removes settings and stream keys).
  • Releases now also carry an unversioned deck-live.zip asset for a stable latest/download URL.
  • No plugin code changes.

Alternatively, download Deck-Live-1.0.1.zip and use Decky → Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP.

Tested on Legion Go / Bazzite. SteamOS is untested.

Deck Live 1.0.0

@Vet-TV Vet-TV released this 13 Oct 04:49
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.
  • First release: YouTube (RTMPS) and Twitch streaming from Game Mode.
  • Hardware H.264 (vah264enc → vaapih264enc → openh264enc → x264enc fallback), GPU scaling with aspect preservation, constant-fps output.
  • Game audio from the default sink monitor, an optional noise-suppressed mic, and volume/gain sliders.
  • A/V sync offset (default −160 ms), implemented by delaying the earlier stream.
  • Auto-reconnect with backoff (2/5/10/20/30 s, up to 5 min); Stop cancels it.
  • Live health stats; 20 s Diagnostics with stall, frame-rate and real-time checks.
  • PyGObject worker runner (keeps the stream key out of ps, clean EOS), with gst-launch fallback.
  • Defaults for new installs: 1080p60, mic off, A/V −160 ms.
  • Verified on Legion Go / Bazzite.
  • Twitch per-preset bitrate caps (max 6000 kbps) with a strict CBR / 1 s CPB buffer; effective bitrate shown in the panel.

Install

Download Deck-Live-1.0.0.zip below, then in Decky go to Settings → Developer → Install Plugin from ZIP (Developer mode must be enabled).
