QRiff v1.0.0

@Wattos Wattos released this 24 Oct 14:23

QRiff scans QR codes directly from your Linux desktop or camera, with local decoding and a tray-first workflow.

Highlights

  • Scan from the open window to keep the screenshot and results together, or use the tray for a windowless flow.
  • Scan from the tray: a single code is copied with a notification; multiple codes become clickable highlights over your desktop.
  • Draw a region using KDE Spectacle's native selector, starting with an empty selection.
  • Scan printed QR codes with a live camera preview.
  • Select and copy text, open web links, hand telephone links to your calling app, or explicitly connect to supported Wi-Fi networks.
  • Revisit results through Last scan without keeping a persistent scan history.
  • MIT licensed; built with Rust and Iced.

Linux downloads

  • AppImage: make executable and run. If FUSE is unavailable, use --appimage-extract-and-run.
  • tar.gz: extract and run AppRun inside the folder; keep the folder together.
  • dependency-sources.tar.gz: source packages for bundled dependencies.
  • SHA256SUMS: download alongside the bundles and run sha256sum --check --ignore-missing SHA256SUMS.

The bundles target x86_64, Ubuntu 22.04 / glibc 2.35 or newer, and include the clipboard helper. They still need the host's desktop services and screenshot portal; KDE region scanning requires Spectacle. Wi-Fi actions require NetworkManager.

Current limits

KDE Plasma on Wayland is the primary tested desktop. GNOME, Hyprland, and Sway depend on portal/tray support and have not been manually validated. The multiple-code overlay currently supports one unchanged display. Windows and macOS are not supported.
