Dream Displays Lumen 0.1.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 15:20

New

  • Players, mobs and items in front of a display get its light. An entity gets the light where it stands, as bright and as colored as a wall there facing the picture would get, shadows included.
    • Its light level rises with the display's brightness.
    • Players and mobs take on the light's color, together with everything they wear (armor, capes, elytra), as strongly as the display's share of all the light there.
    • Your own first-person hand too. Held items keep their own colors.
    • entityLight in the settings turns it off.

Fixed

  • The blocks right in front of a screen are lit. The row of floor (or wall) along the picture stayed dark: the light came from a hair in front of the picture, so the blocks right at it saw it edge-on. Most visible with a screen standing on the floor.
  • Zone colors blend smoothly in front of the screen instead of lighting the floor in hard-edged tiles one zone wide (4 blocks on an 8 block wide screen).
  • Displays more than one block deep light from the picture itself, where Dream Displays draws it, not from the front of their whole block box.
  • Each zone now lights as the rectangle it is, so the light right in front of the picture is as bright as a screen that close is; further away it is the same as before.

Other

  • Light rebuilds that take a quarter second or more are logged.

New

  • Pictures other mods draw on a display light the room too, such as Dream Displays Beam's screen and camera casts (Beam 0.2.1+). While such a picture is shown, its colors count instead of the display's own video, and the display lights even when it has no video.
  • For mod authors: dev.xcrafttm.ddlumen.api.LumenFrames.submit(display, rgba, width, height) on the render thread for each new frame, end(display) when the picture is gone.

Dream Displays Lumen 0.1.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 29 Oct 11:47

First release of Dream Displays Lumen, an addon for Dream Displays: displays light up the room in the colors of their video, like a real screen or cinema canvas, with and without shaders.

Features

  • Colored light per area of the picture: each video frame is reduced to a grid of zone colors (4 × 3 by default); the left part of the picture lights the left part of the room.
  • Light like a real canvas: distance and angle falloff, shadows from blocks, smooth fade at the end of the range (20 blocks by default).
  • Follows every video frame; a soft static glow while Dream Displays shows its loading screen.
  • Shaders (Iris): the light is added after the shader pack's final pass, depth-tested against the scene. Tested with Complementary and Solas (TAA packs included).
  • LambDynamicLights (optional): while a shader pack is active, the display also raises the block light in front of it.
  • Settings in Dream Displays' display menu: Room light and Light color per display (0–200 %).
  • Commands: /ddlumen status | reload | toggle | intensity <0–16> | saturation <0–4> | blocklight <shaders|always|off>.
  • English and German.

Version notes

  • Before 1.21.11 the colored light is off while a shader pack is active (LambDynamicLights block light still works on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1).
  • Before 1.20 there is no LambDynamicLights support.

Known Dream Displays issues (not caused by Lumen)

With Dream Displays 1.10.6, the video quality can switch between 720p and 1080p every few seconds at some distances. That causes frame jumps, and a black screen for about 45 s after the video ends. Workaround: set the display's quality to 720p, or start the game with -Ddreamdisplays.lod.size=false.
