新增

  • 打开文件夹：文件 ▸ 打开文件夹…（⇧⌘O），或把文件夹拖到 TinyEdit 上，会在新窗口里打开，左边栏列出里面的文件，点一下就打开。磁盘上增删文件会自动刷新，文件夹改名或移动后也会跟上；文件夹被删掉时，已经打开的文本还在。
    • ⌃⌘S 显示或隐藏边栏，按钮在标题栏右侧（只有文件夹窗口才有）。
    • 拖边栏右边缘调宽度，拖到很窄就收起，双击恢复默认宽度。
    • 终端里 tinyedit . 打开当前文件夹。
  • 多窗口：⇧⌘N 新建窗口。把标签页拖出窗口就成了新窗口，拖进另一个窗口就移过去。每个窗口的标签页、文件夹和位置，下次启动时都会恢复。
  • 文本比较：在标签页右键菜单选“比较对象”，或在命令面板里输入“比较…”，再选另一个标签页或磁盘上的文件。差异以只读方式显示，可以上下跳转；编码、换行符和末尾换行的不同会单独列出来。按 Esc 或“完成”关闭。
  • 编辑上的几个小功能：
    • 回车会沿用当前缩进；在行尾的 {、[、( 后面（Python、YAML 还有 :）多缩进一级，在 {} 中间回车会拆成三行。
    • 选中文字后输入引号或左括号，会把选中的内容包起来。
    • 没选中任何内容时，⌘C / ⌘X 复制或剪切整行，粘贴时插在当前行上方。
    • ⇧⌘\ 跳到配对的括号。
    • 工具 ▸ 大小写与命名：大写、小写、首字母大写，以及 camelCase、PascalCase、snake_case、CONSTANT_CASE、kebab-case。
    • 选中的内容全是数字时，状态栏会显示合计，点一下就复制。

改进

  • 支持 macOS 14。macOS 14 上没有 Apple 系统翻译（自定义模型可以用），标签栏两端的渐隐和滚轮横向滚动也没有，其他功能一样。
  • 文件菜单里“新建标签页”的快捷键改为显示 ⌘N，和 Sublime Text、VS Code 一致；⌘T 照样能用。

修复

  • 少数情况下系统不允许直接替换文件，TinyEdit 会改为原地写入。以前这一步中途出错（比如磁盘满了）可能留下一个不完整的文件，现在会把原内容写回去。
  • 从磁盘重新载入、或以编码重新打开时，如果这期间你又改了文字，现在不会再被覆盖，会提示一下。
  • 有些文件其实不是 GB18030 编码（比如带 Windows-1252 欧元符号的文件），以前会被当成 GB18030 打开，什么都没改直接保存也会改掉文件内容。现在只有能原样存回去的文件才按 GB18030 打开。

New

  • Open a folder: File ▸ Open Folder… (⇧⌘O), or drop a folder on TinyEdit. It opens in a new window with its files listed in the sidebar; click one to open it. Files added or removed on disk show up on their own, and a renamed or moved folder is followed. If the folder is deleted, the text you have open stays.
    • ⌃⌘S shows or hides the sidebar; its button is on the right of the title bar, in folder windows only.
    • Drag the sidebar's right edge to resize it. Drag it narrow enough and it hides; double-click resets the width.
    • In Terminal, tinyedit . opens the current folder.
  • Multiple windows: ⇧⌘N opens a new window. Drag a tab out of a window to make a new one, or onto another window to move it there. Each window's tabs, folder and position come back at the next launch.
  • Compare With: right-click a tab and choose Compare With, or type "Compare With…" in the command palette, then pick another tab or a file on disk. The diff is read-only and you can step through the changes. Differences in encoding, line endings and the final newline are listed separately. Esc or Done closes it.
  • Small editing helpers:
    • Return keeps the line's indentation, adds a level after a line-ending {, [ or ( (and : in Python and YAML), and splits {} onto three lines.
    • Typing a quote or an opening bracket over a selection wraps it.
    • With nothing selected, ⌘C / ⌘X copy or cut the whole line, and pasting it puts it above the current line.
    • ⇧⌘\ jumps to the matching bracket.
    • Tools ▸ Change Case: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, CONSTANT_CASE and kebab-case.
    • When the selection is only numbers, the status bar shows their sum; click it to copy.

Improved

  • Runs on macOS 14. On 14 there is no Apple Translation (a custom model still works), and the tab bar has no edge fades or sideways wheel scrolling; everything else is the same.
  • The File menu now shows ⌘N for New Tab, as in Sublime Text and VS Code. ⌘T still works.

Fixed

  • When macOS doesn't allow the file to be replaced, TinyEdit writes it in place instead. If that failed partway (a full disk, say), the file could be left incomplete; now the old contents are written back.
  • Reload From Disk and Reopen with Encoding no longer throw away text you typed while the file was being read; you get a notice instead.
  • Some files that aren't GB18030 (one with a Windows-1252 euro sign, for example) used to open as GB18030, and saving them without any change altered the file. Now a file opens as GB18030 only if it would save back byte for byte.

Requires macOS 14 or later, on an Apple silicon (M-series) or Intel Mac. Download TinyEdit-0.5.0.dmg, open it and drag TinyEdit into the Applications folder. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally.
