Game crashes when trying to respec

I just updated the mod from the 2024 version to 5.5 after i didnt play for a time.
The first problem i saw is that alot of spells of features are missing on the characters.
Then i wanted to respec in hopes that this fixes the missing things.
Now everytime i go to withers and try to respec the game crashes.
Without the mod loaded i cant even start the game.

If you haven't play for a very long time, you were potentially playing a different mod by the same mod author. Mod writer is rebuilding the 2024 mod from scratch in Mar 2026 (calling it 5.5) - so if your save relates to the 2024 mod, you will probably need to revert the old mod or start a new game

1: Save files from mod version 3.x+ are not compatible with the new version 4.x+; please start a new game.

2: Check if you have the "Magic Initiate" feat (Cleric, Druid, Wizard, etc.). If you do, performing a respec requires you to re-select the spells associated with that feat to regain access to all of them; this was implemented to prevent players from selecting duplicate spells for both the feat and their class.

3: If you have a save file that uses this mod, please do not load it without the mod installed, as doing so could permanently damage your save. Remember that this is likely the most extensive, comprehensive, and intrusive mod for BG3; please use it with caution.

Also experienced this (didn't have 2024 - installed fresh from mod.io for most recent honor mode run) on my tav, which then spread to shadowheart and then astarion. Gale and Karlach were fine. When trying to respec through withers or other modded means, the screen would go black until I click anything, at which point it would grey out, load for a second, and then crash. This occurred at level 5 for all 3.

This is happening to me as well. I started playing again within the last few days though. I have the newest version of the mod and have only had that. When trying to level up OR respec Gale the game crashes to desktop. If I launch the game through steam rather than BGMM it doesnt crash right away but instead tanks the fps and causes stuttering visually and with audio. The escape button ceases to work and attempting to move to or from camp causes it to finish crashing to desktop.

Edit: This was also happening to laezel but after many many MANY reloads trying to configure the load order I tried to respec her again and it worked. Not for Gale though still.
