.NET, Interrupted

This is a curated list of noteworthy .NET projects that have been either archived or abandoned. A .NET project hosted on GitHub is currently considered noteworthy if it has at least 100 stars, but this may be subject to change.

The list was created in the hope that some of these projects might be revived one day:

  • #develop: A free IDE for .NET programming languages.
  • Channels: Push-based .NET streams.
  • ChronoZoom: An interactive timeline for all of history.
  • CodeContracts: A language-agnostic way to express coding assumptions in .NET programs.
  • DotNetOpenAuth: A C# implementation of the OpenID and OAuth protocols.
  • Facebook SDK for .NET: Helps developers build web, desktop, Silverlight, Windows Phone, and Windows Store applications that integrate with Facebook.
  • MarkdownSharp: An open source C# implementation of a Markdown processor, used by Stack Overflow.
  • MonoDevelop: A cross platform IDE for .NET.
  • Nancy: A lightweight, low-ceremony framework for building HTTP-based services on .NET and Mono.
  • Protobuild: Cross-platform project generation for C#.
  • Xamarin.Mobile: An API for accessing common mobile platform features.
