@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 19:21
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

No change to the app since v2.1.1. This release changes how releases are made.

Build and release

  • A release is published only after CI passes on the tagged commit: a clean build of the app and tests with warnings as errors, then the full test suite.
  • CI also runs on every push to main and on pull requests.
  • A Makefile wraps the common tasks. make check is what CI runs, make install builds and installs, and make lists every target.
  • A compiler warning in one test is fixed.

Install

Needs macOS 26 on Apple silicon.

  1. Optional: check the download was built by this repo's release workflow, from this tag. Either verify its attestation, or compare its checksum with the .sha256 file beside it:

    gh attestation verify MomentumMenu-2.1.2.dmg -R agrmohit/momentum-menu
    shasum -a 256 -c MomentumMenu-2.1.2.dmg.sha256
  2. Open the DMG and drag Momentum Menu to Applications.

  3. The app is ad hoc signed, not notarised, so macOS blocks the first launch. The attestation does not change that: macOS checks only Apple signing. Open the app once, then choose Open Anyway in System Settings > Privacy & Security within the hour. Or clear the quarantine flag from a terminal:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MomentumMenu.app
  4. Open it and allow Bluetooth when asked.

v2.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 18:45

The first release of this fork. Everything since andr3-santos/momentum-menu v1.0.2.

Popover

  • Redesigned with native macOS 26 controls: a battery ring header over Control Center-style tiles. Needs macOS 26; the update checker is gone.
  • Charging shows a breathing bolt in the ring and a Charging pill; Charged when full on the cable. The ring turns red at 20% and under.
  • The playing codec and sample rate, from whichever device is streaming.
  • Optional battery percentage in the menu bar.

Noise control

  • Off, Adaptive and Custom in one click each, with the level slider in Custom.
  • Anti-wind: Off, Auto or Max.

Sound

  • Smart Control's eight equaliser presets, plus three of our own.
  • Band sliders labelled 63, 250, 1k, 4k and 8k, as Smart Control shows them.
  • Bass Boost.

Headphone settings

  • Touch controls, on-head detection, Smart Pause, auto-answer calls and Comfort Calls.

Multipoint

  • A line under the battery reads "Also on iPhone" or "Only this Mac". Click it for the paired devices.
  • Connect a paired device while a slot is free.
  • Disconnect one by hovering its green pill. For this Mac it is the usual hand-over; for another device it needs firmware 3.38.3 or newer, since older firmware was seen to erase a pairing instead.
  • Settings picks a Phone, Tablet, Laptop or Desktop icon for each device.

App

  • Three app icons to pick in Settings: Starfield, Sleepy and Ghost.
  • Cmd+W closes Settings, and Cmd+Q quits from Settings and the right-click menu.
  • The bundle id is com.agrmohit.momentummenu. Coming from upstream, saved settings and Launch at Login start fresh.

Safety and reliability

  • Every command the app sends is on an allow-list with its exact payload; anything else is refused before it reaches the headphones.
  • The model is checked before the first write, so other Sennheiser headphones are left alone.
  • Writes are ordered, and a newer click or edit always wins over an older one still in flight.
  • Fixed races between connecting, refreshing and changing settings, and between the equaliser and a refresh.
  • The Bluetooth transport runs on the main actor.
  • build.sh no longer installs a build that failed.
