Installing on macOS
This beta isn't code-signed yet, so macOS Gatekeeper will block it on first launch. After dragging FilDOS to Applications, run once:

xattr -cr /Applications/FilDOS.app
Then open it normally.

Installing on Linux

AppImage — chmod +x FilDOS-0.1.0-beta.0.AppImage and run it.
.deb — sudo apt install ./FilDOS-0.1.0-beta.0.deb.

What's new

  • One model for everything: EmbeddingGemma 2 searches text, pictures, audio and video together. HEIC photos are indexed (macOS).
  • Hits open where they matched: PDFs at the page (words highlighted), recordings at the moment.
  • Search shows a live preview beside the results.
  • Quick Look: press Space on any file to preview it in place.
  • Searches with no real answer return nothing; codes and IDs match exactly.
  • Lighter indexing: secrets and caches are never indexed, models unload when idle, and Settings shows an ETA.

Fixes

  • Chat no longer fails on long messages or conversations.
