Clippy 0.1.0 — first packaged macOS app
First binary release of Clippy: a macOS menu-bar app that gives every Claude Code (and Codex) session a floating pixel buddy which surfaces permission requests, plans, questions, and end-of-turn reviews as clickable cards.
What's in this release
- Clippy-for-Claude-Code.dmg (~104 MB) — the packaged app, built with
npm run packagefrom branchtodo/one-click-hooks@ the PR #11 head (includes the Codex-support WIP #10, the 1M-context stats fix #7, and the one-click hook installer #11 — rebuild frommainonce those merge if you want an exact-main binary). Prebuilt Electron runtime with the app's source inContents/Resources/app/, buddy sprites pre-baked, ad-hoc signed (not notarized).
Install — no terminal needed
- Download the DMG, open it, drag Clippy for Claude Code into Applications.
- It is unsigned: right-click → Open the first time.
- Click Install hooks when the app offers — it writes only Clippy's own tagged entries to
~/.claude/settings.json(and Codex'shooks.json, if you use Codex). The menu-bar 📎 can re-install or update them any time.
Operational notes
- The app binds
127.0.0.1:43117only; nothing leaves the machine, and nothing is ever auto-approved. - With the app not running, the hooks no-op instantly (
--connect-timeout 1 … || true) — Claude Code behaves as if Clippy didn't exist. - Uninstall: the same tagged-entries-only removal via the app bundle's
clippy-hooks.js uninstall(ornpm run hooks:uninstallfrom source), then delete the app.
