Nebula Browser 1.0.0 🌌

The first release of Nebula Browser — a free, open-source web browser for Apple TV that renders the web
locally on your device (no cloud, no tracking, no ads).

Highlights

Browsing

  • WKWebView-based local rendering for fast, modern websites
  • On-screen cursor with click stabilization for precise taps
  • Scroll mode for quick page scrolling (Back/Select returns to cursor)
  • Smart address bar: type a URL or search terms — it auto-detects which
  • 7 search engines: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Ecosia, Brave, Startpage
  • "Go to " shortcut to jump to a site's root

Tabs

  • Multiple tabs with a focus-driven overview
  • Swipe up on a tab card to close it (app-switcher style animation)
  • Arrow double-press shortcuts: ↑ Tabs · ↓ Favorites · ← History · → New Tab

Video

  • Inline playback with a built-in full screen player
  • Fast-forward 2x → 32x, slow down, and resume from the exact point
  • Swipe to scrub (quick swipes accelerate); ±10s skips while paused
  • Transport bar with position, buffer, and remaining/total time
  • Videos resume where you left off
  • Double-tap a video, or use the page's control, to go full screen
  • Native JavaScript dialogs (alert / confirm / prompt)

Personalization

  • 10 accent themes — the app icon follows your choice
  • Adjustable font size and page scaling
  • Show/hide the top navigation bar
  • Desktop / mobile user agent

Privacy

  • Choose what opens on launch: last session or home page
  • Clear history on exit
  • Privacy mode: hide page content in the Apple TV app switcher

Navigation & input

  • Back to go back; double-Back to exit
  • Settings open from the Quick Menu (Play/Pause) or the toolbar
  • In-menu settings are adjustable with Left/Right, with inline explanations

Install

There is no prebuilt binary. Open the project in Xcode and build/install to your Apple TV (connected
over WiFi). See the README for details. A paid Apple Developer account gives a 1-year provisioning
profile (vs 7 days on a free account).

Credits

Built with the help of AI (Claude Code). Based on the open-source
tvOS Browser by Steven Troughton-Smith and Jip van Akker.
