Windows Quest Companion 0.3.0-beta.1 — app icon package

Uses the same XPPanelsVR artwork as the Apple Vision Pro app for setup, uninstall,
Desktop and Start-menu shortcuts, and Windows Installed Apps.

The PC had already advanced to the separate 0.3.0-preview.1 Quest product.
This release preserves that exact installed runtime and product separation, so
the next unused 0.3.0-beta.1 was selected instead of the older handover's
suggested 0.2.2. Icon commit 52a1c2f was cherry-picked onto Quest checkpoint
a845076, without resetting to its older baseline or importing Vision Pro runtime changes.

Preserved behavior

  • 1,990 baseline files are byte-identical. Capture, launcher and plugin native PE
sections match the installed separated Quest checkpoint; only new Authenticode
signatures change those complete binary hashes. Economy capture also matches
public 0.2.1. Controls, streaming, USB recovery, helpers and wire protocols are unchanged.
  • Quest has its own launcher, settings and XPPanelsQuestBridge ownership on 49001.
Vision Pro remains independent. No simulator plugin is installed automatically.
  • The Quest Beta 2 APK code 20018, Mac installer and separate Meta beta
channel code 20002 are unchanged. No headset rebuild or Meta upload was performed.

Installation and rollback

Verify the EXE against SHA256SUMS.txt and the existing AldoApps signing certificate.
Close the older Companion and install into a new empty folder. Normal installation
creates the two branded shortcuts and the Installed Apps entry. Previous versions
are retained; install does not start X-Plane or USB sharing.

Users moving from the older shared 0.2.1 installation should keep its settings and
working plugin as rollback. The separated Quest app has its own settings root and
may require selecting the simulator again. Normal plugin setup does not silently
adopt a legacy shared bridge or create a second 49001 listener; contact support
before a deliberate migration. Existing files/settings are not deleted.

The complete installer includes the private Python/Tcl/Tk runtime, USB tools,
control helpers/manifests, capture and managed command plugin. Simulator, aircraft,
GPU drivers and headset application remain separately supplied prerequisites.

Verification

  • Expected AldoApps self-signature and DigiCert timestamps verified on installer,
embedded uninstaller, capture, launcher and Quest plugin. Windows may still show
an unknown-publisher/untrusted-root warning; the certificate is self-signed.
  • 77 offline regressions passed.
  • Actual isolated install/uninstall passed, including both real shortcut launches
under a fixture-only UI-test bootstrap, Installed Apps icon, payload hashes,
overwrite/locked-uninstall/foreign-product refusal and preservation of unknown files.
  • Installer/uninstaller icon resources were extracted and visually inspected.
  • 47,814 existing app, settings and plugin files passed the post-test preservation audit.
  • No simulator, USB or headset operation was used. Fresh live acceptance and
clean-machine qualification are not claimed by these branding checks.

@aldomm aldomm released this 05 Nov 14:20

Quest Beta 2 — panel corrections

This is the exact production-signed build installed and accepted on the development Quest 3 after the user checked all changes.

  • Compact transponder mode labels clear the complete number-display window.
  • Original transponder knob notch aligns with all five mode labels.
  • GCS/OFF/AUTO labels centered on the radar switch; ATC FAIL moved lower.
  • Brake needles visible at calibrated zero in offline preview. Live readings still require valid feedback.
  • Existing cockpit readability, trim scales/arrows, controls and shared app icon retained. Menu gesture unchanged.

Install the standalone APK over an earlier production-signed build using adb install -r. No OBB or Companion update is needed. Settings are retained for same-signature updates. Direct updates are manual; this release does not update the separate Meta beta channel.

Validation: zero build errors; 211 readability checks, 1,134 hand assertions, five native-notch positions, real number-display clearance and offline/live needle checks passed. Installed and user-approved on Quest 3; broader hardware qualification continues.

Existing Windows and Mac installers are unchanged; SHA256SUMS includes their current artifacts.

Also available: XPPanelsVR for Apple Vision Pro, with its own Companion downloads and setup.

Quest Beta 2 — cockpit readability and trim reference arrows

Quest Beta 2 — cockpit readability and trim reference arrows

Download XPPanelsVR-Quest-0.2.0-beta.2-trim-pointers-code20018-release.apk for the latest Quest update. This is the exact production-signed build installed on the development Quest, version code 20018.

  • Clearer fixed cockpit lettering and markings across the glareshield, overhead, main instrument panel and pedestal.
  • More visible brake-pressure/accumulator markings and inward-thickened green/amber bands.
  • Restored original moving pitch-trim scales without duplicate fixed markings, plus stationary white reference arrows on both sides.
  • Existing controls, trim calibration and Companion communication protocols are unchanged.

Install or update

Enable Quest Developer Mode and allow USB debugging on your own computer, then install the APK over USB with an APK installer or adb install -r. This standalone APK needs no OBB. Its AldoApps production certificate matches the Meta build, so it can update an earlier production-signed installation while retaining data. A legacy development-signed app requires a one-time uninstall after preserving any settings you need. Direct APK updates are manual. Android will not install an older version over this build.

Companion downloads

No Companion update is required for these visual changes. Use the existing Windows installer or Apple-silicon Mac installer. Their published versions and checksums are unchanged. SHA256SUMS.txt includes the new APK and those compatible installers.

The Quest APK and Mac Companion already include the shared XPPanelsVR/Vision Pro app icon. The Windows branding update is prepared in source and awaits a signed, verified PC build; the linked Windows installer remains the existing tested release.

Validation and distribution

Production signature verified; Android build completed with zero errors. The full readability suite passed 211 checks before this small pointer addition; focused trim/pointer checks and visual captures passed for both sides at four trim positions. Earlier readability and the restored scales were reviewed in the headset. The final reference arrows still need broader tester feedback; this remains a beta, not a claim of qualification on every headset, computer or aircraft.

This release updates the website's direct download only. It does not upload the APK to Meta or change the separate Meta-managed channel.

Windows Companion 0.2.1 Beta 1 — plugin setup update

Choose a tag to compare

@aldomm aldomm released this 14 Oct 05:12

Windows Companion 0.2.1-beta.1 adds guided XPPanelsBridge command-plugin setup: install/update, verified backup, restore and managed removal. X-Plane must be closed for plugin changes; the EXE installer itself does not modify the simulator.

All higher-quality video work was withdrawn. Economy capture code, controls, nine instrument displays, recovery, audio, ISCS and USB protocols retain the accepted baseline. Both native PE section sets and 1980 runtime/control/USB/session files match the previous release.

Compatible with the current Meta-managed Quest beta 0.2.0-beta.1/code 20001 (APK SHA256 176e16bdc32cd56f56a5b9c758602f6170e4af8dd47396070fb0922f6a72a8af). No Quest rebuild, replacement or signing migration is required. Mac Companion remains 0.2.0-beta.1. The previous release remains available for rollback.

Verification: 53 Python tests, packaged helper self-tests, all 1994 installed payload/manifest files, installer/uninstaller lifecycle, overwrite/lock refusal, preserved settings and synthetic signed-plugin install/remove passed. Physical simulator plugin loading and end-to-end Meta-build headset acceptance remain manual checks.

Windows signing remains self-signed and is not automatically trusted. No virtual-monitor/controller driver is included.

@aldomm aldomm released this 14 Oct 02:50

XPPanelsVR Public Beta 1

This release promotes the exact Mac, Windows and Quest build that completed flight testing. The application binaries are unchanged from v0.2.0-preview.1; only the public channel, filenames and release metadata changed.

Included

  • Mac Companion: Apple-silicon macOS 15+ PKG, Developer ID signed, Apple notarized and stapled.
  • Windows Companion: Windows 11 x64 per-user installer. It is self-signed and Windows does not automatically trust its publisher.
  • Quest app: Direct ARM64 APK tested on Quest 3. It remains development-signed and debuggable for this beta.
  • SHA-256 checksums, public Windows signing certificate, beta terms and cockpit-model attribution.

Install both the Companion for your computer and the matched Quest APK. Follow the complete setup and recovery guide on the XPPanelsVR website.

Current beta limits

  • Virtual sidesticks currently require a physical joystick to be detected by X-Plane/ToLiss.
  • A neutral virtual-controller driver is not bundled.
  • Mac support is Apple silicon only; Windows 11 x64 is the tested Windows host.
  • Mac includes guided XPPanelsBridge installation. Windows testers must retain their separately installed working command plugin.
  • Current aircraft qualification is for the tested ToLiss A320 setup; other versions require further qualification.

This is independent entertainment and testing software. It is not a real-aviation system or certified training device. Report beta issues at https://github.com/aldomm/XPPanelsVR-Quest/issues.

Mac + Windows Companion + Quest — 0.2.0 testing preview

@aldomm aldomm released this 13 Oct 18:40

XPPanelsVR for Quest + Mac/Windows Companion — matched testing preview

Direct Mac, Windows and Quest downloads, outside the App Store, Microsoft Store
and Horizon Store. Setup guide:

https://aldomm.github.io/XPPanelsVR-Quest/

macOS

Download the macos-arm64.pkg installer. The application, nested helper, ADB,
simulator plugin and installer are signed with Apple Developer ID distribution
identities and trusted timestamps. Apple accepted this exact package for
notarization; the ticket is stapled and Gatekeeper's install assessment passes.

This package requires an Apple-silicon Mac and macOS 15 or later. It installs the
Companion in Applications and includes the guided XPPanelsBridge plugin installer.
It does not include X-Plane, ToLiss, a virtual joystick driver or the Quest APK.
Clean-Mac and Intel qualification are not claimed.

Windows

Download the SELF-SIGNED.exe installer. It is Authenticode self-signed and
timestamped, as are its uninstaller and two project-owned native executables.
It is not automatically trusted by Windows and is not CA-trusted or Store-signed.
The public certificate is for inspection; do not disable security protections.
The private key was not uploaded. Per-user installation, no automatic launch,
plugin/driver installation, simulator operation or monitor changes.

Quest

Download the APK and use the guide's matching Windows or macOS ADB command. This
is the current accepted development-signed/debuggable ARM64 preview, not a
production-key release. APK v2 signature and certificate were verified with
official Android tools. Installed app label: XPPanels Quest Foundation.
Existing matching-key installs can update; a different signing identity needs an
intentional migration.

Included behavior

Nine LCD-cropped instrument streams, MCDU capture-stall fallback, controls, both
virtual tillers/sidesticks, AP-disconnect bindings, EFB FREEZE/PAUSE state,
optional scenery/audio and explicitly selected ISCS. The Mac package contains the
same accepted Quest-control helper and manifests used by the tested Mac setup.

Requirements and limits

Tested with Windows 11 x64 or Apple-silicon macOS 15+, Quest 3, licensed X-Plane
12 and supported ToLiss A320. A physical joystick is still needed for virtual
sidesticks. A neutral virtual-controller driver is not included. Windows testers
must retain the separate working XPPanelsBridge command plugin; Mac includes guided
plugin installation. Aircraft, simulator, paid software and SDKs are not included.

The Mac package passed strict nested-code verification, helper self-test, Apple
notarization/stapling and Gatekeeper install assessment. The Windows installer
passed its isolated installation and payload checks. Broad clean-machine,
aircraft-version and sustained-flight qualification remain open.

Compare SHA256SUMS.txt before using a file. Cockpit model credit and preview terms
are attached. Personal entertainment/testing only; not real aviation or certified
training.
