Winwright and Winwright.InApp 1.1.7 on nuget.org. Nothing is removed or renamed, so a suite written for 1.1.6 runs unchanged. Two changes are things an existing setup may notice, and they are marked.

Scenario format

  • A case reads the program the application starts (WW586). A new process step, starts, waits for the application to start a program, such as an editor or a viewer it opens. Its required matches is read against the program's file name and arguments:

    { "locator": "Button#OpenInBlender", "act": "invoke" },
    { "process": "starts", "act": "read", "matches": "^blender\\.exe .*cube\\.glb", "named": "Blender opens on the model" }

    Only programs this launch started count. A copy of the same program that was already running, or that something else started, never matches. A red names what the application did start.

  • {configuration} in every token field (WW585). A fixture's before commands (run and arguments), its application, opens, workingDirectory, arguments and variables, and a step's with now fill {configuration} with the build the project declaration names. So a Release run of the cases drives the Release window beside the Release CLI:

    "before": [ { "run": "tools/cli/bin/{configuration}/cli.exe", "arguments": ["send", "cases/fixtures/photo.png"] } ]

    (May notice.) A run that has no configuration refuses the field that names the token, naming WINWRIGHT_CONFIGURATION. Before, the brace was passed on as written.

Processes

  • What a launch starts ends with its case (WW586). Every launch, the application's and each before command's, is held in a Windows job. When the case ends, the programs it started are first asked to close their windows and then ended, so a helper or a viewer no longer outlives the run. A program that still does not exit is listed among the survivors as <name>.exe, started by <application>.exe. A process that was already running before the launch is never touched.

    (May notice.) A suite that relied on something the application started staying open after its case, for a later case to find, now finds it gone. Start it from that later case instead.
