• A refreshed blue Windows workspace with clearer Word, PDF, Excel and PowerPoint choices, readable controls and consistent colours for choices, progress and review.
• Source filenames, reading states and Remove fit on one line. Long save-folder paths stay on one line, with the full path available when you hover. Smaller windows can scroll to the controls.
• Word review now shows removed or replaced text in red and crossed out in Before, alongside green changes in After. A notice calls out original paragraphs removed or merged, so you can check what disappeared before accepting the change.

• Simplicitor could occasionally stop responding when a task finished: after opening a document to edit, after pulling information into Excel, or after creating a file. Background tasks now hand their cleanup back to the main window, so this can no longer happen that way.

What's fixed

• Edit document: the area where you drop a Word file now shows its full dashed outline at every Windows display scale.
• Pull information from documents into Excel: the Browse files button now sits directly under the box that lists your files.
• Edit document: drag across paragraphs to select a range; Shift-click still works.
• Edit document: when the local AI rewrites most of a paragraph, the new text takes one consistent format (that of most of the original paragraph) instead of mixing sizes or fonts from different parts of it.

• Describe the change as an instruction, for example "Replace the text with: ...". Depending on the model, a statement on its own, such as "Batman is better", may be added as a note instead of replacing the text.

What's new

• Edit your Word documents. Open a .docx, select the paragraphs you want to change, describe the change, and review the result before saving. Simplicitor saves a new file; it suggests the original's folder and you choose where. The original is never changed.
• Only your selection changes. Everything outside the selected paragraphs stays exactly as it was, byte for byte. Tables, headers and footers are shown read-only. Paragraphs with links, fields, pictures, comments or tracked changes are shown read-only with the reason they cannot be edited yet.
• See what changed. The review shows the selected part before and after, with the changed words highlighted.

Good to know

• Each saved file holds one change. To make another, open the new file.
• If the document has Track Changes turned on, the change is saved without revision marks.
• Local AI models sometimes return the text unchanged, especially when asked to shorten it. Use Try again or reword the description.

What's new

• A clearer Create screen. Choose what you want first: write a new document, or pull information from your documents into an Excel table. Text is larger, and every box says what it is for.
• Built-in templates only. Uploading your own PowerPoint file as a template is removed; the built-in templates stay.
• Clear reading problems. When part of a Word file cannot be read, Simplicitor names it, for example text boxes or tracked changes, and asks you to check these problems before you use the table.
• The version is shown in the window title, the top bar and Settings.

Choose the columns you need, review the results, and save your spreadsheet. The Evidence sheet records the source quote and location for each extracted value.

The legacy Edit feature has been removed from the app. Existing document creation from prompts and PowerPoint templates remains available.

Simplicitor v1.2.1 is a safety patch for the existing Windows application.

• Legacy Edit is disabled, including direct save and worker entry points, before file reading, backup, model inference, or writing.

The new document extraction workflow is still in development and is not available in this application's UI.

This is an unsigned executable. The local build and startup smoke check passed; the clean-machine walkthrough was explicitly waived for this patch. Windows reputation or antivirus acceptance has not been verified.
