First tagged release of OpenCodifier — a local-first, deterministic-first decision runtime that turns unstructured state into small, machine-actionable typed decisions (choice / boolean / score), escalating to expensive models only when cheaper mechanisms cannot decide with sufficient confidence.

What works in this release

  • Canonical decision IR (opencodifier-core): validating constructors, stable ir.* error codes, trace_version on traces, #[non_exhaustive] enums, multi-dimensional confidence reports with outcome routing. Abstention is a successful outcome, never an error.
  • Schema adapters (opencodifier-schema): native / OpenAI / Anthropic / Jev wire formats normalized into the IR; byte-locked fixtures; round-trip property tests.
  • Deterministic engine (opencodifier-engine): declarative DAG executor (topological waves, cycle-checked, bounded), rule engine, metadata + hand-written BM25 candidate narrowing, exact-decision cache (SHA-256 CacheKeyBuilder with model/calibration/graph versions in every key), calibration trait, criterion benches vs the D9 per-stage budgets.
  • Backend traits (opencodifier-runtime): InferenceBackend/EmbeddingBackend, ONNX behind a feature flag deferred by a measured feasibility gate (D2) — re-entry conditions recorded.
  • Model contract (opencodifier-model): candidate-conditioned scoring over named tensors, Rust-side f64 decision math, SHA-256 model manifests. No weights ship; the binary is fully useful with zero ML.
  • Interfaces: opencodifier CLI (decide / graph validate / serve / models verify; exit codes 0/1/2/3) and the axum 0.8 HTTP surface (POST /v1/decide, POST /v1/graph/validate, GET /v1/healthz) — loopback-only by default, 1 MiB body cap, abstention is HTTP 200.
  • Recipes: three runnable decision graphs with captured, byte-reproducible responses under recipes/.
