Given that it's only a single line to re-create the existing behaviour of the prior releases to DockerHub (& working images used in MyBinder), I've gone ahead to just merge this one, hope that's okay! |

This closes #13.
The problem was indeed that the default workflows used for the creation of the Docker container on GH do not check out the submodules (while MyBinder does!), so it would fail. I've adapted the GH workflow file to explicitly also checkout the submodules, now the image works (c.f. my fork) :-)
