When I try to run ng build, I get:

I tried to replicate this locally and I wasn't able. I also tried to follow the code but I cannot spot anything that could cause this problem.

By any chance are you using docker?

Basically I have just started a new project and tried to build it directly using the cli.

The The service is no longer running error is thrown by esbuild.

From the stacks I noticed that the WASM version is used. I don't expect this to be used on Linux. For some reason the native esbuild binary installation failed which causes the WASM version to be used.

The service is no longer running indicates that something fatal is also happening in ESbuild when using the WASM version which is caused the service to be abruptly shutdown, on Linux this can be caused by the OOM Killer which is a process that the kernel triggers when the system is critically low on memory.

I tried updating esbuild, but the error isn't fixed.

I should also add that I am installing the node_modules after I create the app, as they are not created by ng new.

I've tried creating completely new projects and building them directly, but nothing seems to work.

Can you try to re-install Node.JS? Tip: you can use NVM to install and manage your Node.Js versions.
