Repro steps

• Step 1
  Following your installation steps, trying to install angular cli by issuing as shown below dinob@dbmac:~ $ sudo npm install -g @angular/cli and providing password.
  Installation starts but I get lots of errors as shown below

Desired behavior

Installing angular/clli was succesful with no reported errors

Mention any other details that might be useful (optional)

I am beginner in angular/web and am trying to follow instructions on your page to instal angular cli. The command above is the very first command I attempted and cannot proceed without solving this issue.

Hello.

Looks like you don't have write access to global node_modules folder. Please follow the instructions in following page.

@dbnex14 you seem to have 2 issues here.

1. you need to fix your global NPM access permissions:

sudo chown -R $(whoami) $(npm config get prefix)

2. your python installation seems to be broken, you need to install python2:

This seems like a problem with node/npm and not with Angular CLI.

Please have a look at the fixing npm permissions page, common errors page, npm issue tracker, or open a new issue in that issue tracker if the problem you are experiencing isn't known.

the solution, for anyone still running across this, is to use sudo. I know that's an unpopular suggestion. It's unpopular with me too. But until npm fixes their well-well-documented problems with sudo/non-sudo permissions (hey, I'm not saying it's easy to support every platform), some things you just have to do with sudo.

I'll add that chowning your config directory may or may not be a good idea, depending on your configuration and your distribution. echo before you act.
