AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.9
AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.9
Share play invitations you cannot miss, block lists that reach your games, and a safer way for updates to arrive.
Online
- Share play invitations now land in Notifications. When a friend in your party invites you to share play, the invitation stays in the Notification Center with Accept and Dismiss, and the bell lights up, even when your library is empty. Before, it showed only as a toast and on the party page, so it was easy to miss before it ran out.
- The Share Play row on the Friends home page now shows an invitation even when you are not in a party yet.
- Games that read your block list now get the players you blocked on AnyPlay, instead of an error.
Updates
- A bad update can be stopped. If a version turns out to be broken, we can now pull it before it reaches you, and a new version can go out to players in stages. Your launcher checks this in the signed update information it already reads; nothing about you is sent.

Who sees your leaderboard scores, and three more screens that work with a pad alone.
Online
- Leaderboard Scores on the Account page: choose who sees your scores on game leaderboards, Friends, Everyone or Only You. Friends is the default, and a line under the row says what your choice means. It is the same choice as on the account web, in all six languages.
- Video for Share Screen now says what to do when the download fails or the file cannot be used, instead of showing a web address or a system error. The details are in the log.
A console from start to finish
- The Log, the report review and What's New work with a pad or the keyboard alone. Left and Right move between their buttons, and the hint bar shows how to select and go back.

Party voice without echo, the console flow on a controller from start to finish, and Clips on Linux.
Party voice
- No more echo on speakers. Your microphone no longer sends your friends' voices back to them when you play without a headset.
- Echo Cancellation in the voice settings, under Reduce Background Noise, is on by default. If your own voice sounds cut off while others talk, for example with a headset, turn it off.
A console from start to finish
- Sign in and update with a controller. Every step of signing in and updating works with a pad alone, and the hint bar always shows how to go back.
- While you sign in in the browser, the launcher says that the controller works again once you return, and it comes back to the front by itself when the sign-in ends.
- Settings > Connected Apps now shows, for your system, how to start AnyPlay as your console home: Console Mode, Steam Big Picture, and Steam's Gaming Mode on Linux.
Clips on Linux
- Clips now work on Linux. The desktop asks for the game's window when a game starts, and the launcher says so.
- If no window is chosen, Clips stay off for that game and the launcher tells you why.
- Linux has no clip key yet. Press Create on your controller to save a clip.
Unlocking games
- Pause and resume an unlock, with a separate Cancel that asks before it throws the progress away.
- Closing the launcher during an unlock asks first, and Pause and Quit picks it up again later. Thanks to Lenny (@Lenny4250gh).
Online
- Messages say when they are loading or when you are offline, with Try Again, instead of showing an empty list.
- A conversation that fails to load can be loaded again.
- A profile that no longer exists says so.
- A sign-in that you stop in the browser now shows a notice.
- A voice connection that fails reads Not working instead of Off.
- Text that is cut short can be read in full under the pointer or the focus.
- The account pages on the web open in your language when you come from the launcher.
Looks
- Trophy grade labels are easy to read on every look.
- The focus ring, profile and activity cards are clearer on Daylight.
Mac
- The online area on the Mac now runs the online service inside the app, with party voice through your Mac's microphone and speakers.
More
- The phone controller can't be turned off while a phone is paired. Thanks to fogydes (@fogydes).
- On Linux, sharing no longer locks up on PCs where two video encoders start at once. Shared game sound no longer clicks after lost packets. Thanks to fma-rc (@fma-rc).
Flatpak
The Flatpak's app ID is now com.anyplaynet.Launcher, ready for Flathub. Bundles up to 0.3.5 used net.anyplay.Launcher. To keep your settings, remove the old one and move its folder before the first start of the new one:
flatpak uninstall --user net.anyplay.Launcher
mv ~/.var/app/net.anyplay.Launcher ~/.var/app/com.anyplaynet.LauncherDownloads
- Windows:

AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.6
AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.6
Console Mode, a more colourful Daylight, and online screens that say what is going on.
Console Mode
- Settings > General > Console Mode turns your PC into a console home: AnyPlay opens when you sign in to your computer, always fills the screen and starts ready for the controller.
- Return to Desktop sits right under it while Console Mode is on and closes the launcher, so your desktop is there as before.
- Start with Windows (on Linux and macOS: Start at Login) opens AnyPlay when you sign in, without the rest of Console Mode. It is off until you turn it on.
- Open in Full Screen now has its own row and applies right away.
Daylight, with more colour
- Daylight is now a coloured morning sky: deep blue at the top, lilac across the middle and apricot at the horizon, with a golden sun, rose clouds and coloured lights drifting up.
- Panels let more of the sky through, so the look is less pale.
- Trophy grades and the focus ring are easier to see on Daylight.
Online screens
- A friend request from someone you haven't played with shows Accept again.
- Sign In and Create Account open the Cloud page when no cloud is set, instead of doing nothing.
- Errors without their own message are shown in your language, and the details go to the log.
- Friends and Played With Recently say when you are offline or still connecting, with Try Again, instead of "No friends yet" or loading forever.
- Screen readers announce new notifications as new and name each notification's buttons.
- The party's voice mark and the "more below" fade are readable on Daylight.
Online play with the AnyPlay Engine
- The online service and the game now prove their connection to each other with a challenge, so the game's sign-in never travels in the clear.
- If you use the AnyPlay Engine channel, update the engine too when the launcher offers it. Older engine builds can't connect to this version.

AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.5
Three new looks that move, a calmer language choice, and a safer clips folder.
New looks
- Ember: a low, warm hearth of charcoal and copper in AnyPlay orange. Embers rise slowly and fade, warm smoke drifts over them.
- Tide: deep, cool water in petrol and ice blue, with threads of light from the surface and slow light shafts.
- Daylight: the first light look. Soft daylight, dark text, a cool sky over a warm horizon, clouds drifting by.
- Choose them in Settings > Appearance or on the Look page of the first start, which now shows all six looks in two rows.
- With Animations: Reduced, every look holds still.
Played With Recently
- Friends > Played With Recently lists the people you shared a party or a game session with in the last 30 days, so you can add them as a friend or look at their profile in one step.
- Only you see this list. Turn off Remember People I Play With or clear the list any time, here or in your privacy settings on the web. People you block don't show up.
Easier to read
- Choosing a language is now a plain list of names, on the first start and in Settings > Language. The language you point at shows the page in it right away.
- Loading with Animations: Reduced no longer spins or sweeps: the indicator pulses gently instead.
Clips
- Clips are saved only into your Captures folder. If something tries to save a clip elsewhere, the launcher says so.
Under the hood
- The online service holds up better against misbehaving connections: limits on what a game or another player can make it wait for or keep, and connections that go silent are closed. Thanks to fogydes (@fogydes) for several of these.
- On Linux, hardware video encoding for sharing stays off for now while it is tested on more graphics cards. Sharing keeps working as before.

AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.4
A new first start, three more languages, and clips on the Mac.
A new first start
The first start is done again from the ground up: calm, centred pages and only what a new player needs.
- Language first, with your system language already chosen.
- Choose Your Look: the three themes, and right there Larger Text, High Contrast and Reduce Motion.
- Your Controller, when a pad is connected: try the face buttons, pick which button confirms, and choose whether the Home button opens the launcher.
- Where are your games? shows what was found, so a wrong folder is noticed at once.
- Play Together says the privacy defaults in plain words before you sign in: private by default, Appear Offline, and your game files stay on your PC.
- You're All Set shows the Home button, where Settings are and how new games arrive.
Pad, keyboard and mouse work on every page.
Español, Français, Português
- The launcher now speaks Spanish, French and Brazilian Portuguese, next to English, Turkish and German. Choose one in Settings > Language or on the first page.
- Games that follow the launcher's language get it too: Spanish (Spain or Latin America, from your system), French and Portuguese.
- Dates, numbers and sizes are written the way each language writes them.
- These translations have not been read by a native speaker yet. If you speak one of them, Settings > Language > Improve a Translation shows how to help.
Mac
- Clips on the Mac: the Create button saves the last seconds of your game. Clips need Screen Recording for AnyPlay; when it is off, the launcher says so and opens the right page in System Settings. A clip key for the Mac comes later.
Easier to use
- Settings, Library and Notifications have a Back button you can click, like Captures. Before, only Esc, the pad or a mouse side button left them.
- Long names show in full when you point at them or move the focus there: game tiles, notifications, overview rows and shelf captions.
- Screen readers now name the window buttons and the clip player.
- Smaller fixes: the Settings list no longer cuts off its last entry, the character count in Post a Listing no longer covers the hint, and the button bar shows the right buttons on more screens.
Fixes
- Share screen with game sound no longer crashes on Windows. In 0.3.3 the sharing helper could stop the first time a stream with sound started.
- The online service is harder to misuse: tighter limits on what other players and servers can make it hold in memory, and game traffic reaches your game only from players in your session.

AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.3
The launcher starts in a blink, broadcasts carry your game's sound, and your profile, colours and controller light bar are yours to set.
Faster
- Starts in about a third of a second instead of three to four on PCs with two graphics cards. The launcher no longer wakes the sleeping graphics card just to list it.
Broadcast and sharing
- Broadcasts carry the game's sound on Windows: only the game, never your microphone or other programs.
- YouTube streams over a secure connection (
rtmps://); a custom server can usertmp://orrtmps://. If a secure connection fails, the Broadcast page says why in plain words. - Share screen carries the game's sound on Windows too.
Friends and profile
- Public Profile in Settings > Online: your page on the web stays off until you turn it on here or on the website.
- Friends who play together now read like "Playing … together · 2 of 4 players · You can join".
- Library tiles say Play together for games you can play with friends.
Make it yours
- Game Colors remembers each game's colours, so the theme is there from the first frame.
- Volumes in Settings > Sound are real sliders: drag with the mouse, step with the arrows or the pad, Page Up and Page Down for bigger steps.
- Any light bar colour for your DualSense: Hue and Brightness sliders in the Controller Center.
Home
- While a game is being removed, its tile on Home shows the progress. Thanks to Lenny (@Lenny4250gh) for this one.

AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.2
Fixes from your feedback on 0.3.1, and the launcher now works with Linux package managers.
Fixes
- Captures: on an empty Captures page, the pad reaches the button again and the page scrolls to it.
- Add a Friend: screen readers now announce the result once: request sent, already friends, or why it could not be sent.
- Profiles: activity on a profile no longer shows reaction counts, so it looks the same as the Activity page.
- Share screen on Linux: if downloading the video codec failed, the launcher tries again the next time it starts or when you open Settings.
Linux
- Installed by a package manager: a launcher installed as a Flatpak (and soon from the AUR) leaves its updates to the package manager. About shows when a new version is out and which package manager installs it, and the launcher never replaces its own files.

AnyPlay Launcher 0.3.1
Find players for your games, send your screenshots and clips to friends, start a party in one press, and a cleaner look.
New
- Find Players in a game's options: see who looks for a group for that game, with filters for the mode and the language, the places that are free and the time left.
- Post a listing for an hour: the mode, a language, how many players you look for (1 to 7) and a short note.
- Ask to Join: the player who posted accepts or declines. Accepting sends you a party invitation.
- Report a listing or block its poster right from the list.
- Send to a Friend in Captures: send a screenshot (up to 10 MB) or a clip (up to 100 MB and 60 seconds) to a friend. It shows in your conversation as a picture or a play card, with Open, Report and, for your own, Unsend. Only that friend can open it, and it is deleted after 30 days.
Friends
- Add a Friend is one clear page: type a name, press Send Request, and the result shows right there. A sent request clears the field; if it can't be sent, the page says why and keeps the name.
- Pasting
@nameor a friend link into the field works, and a friend link you open while signed out waits until you sign in. - The buttons on a friend's row no longer flicker when you point at them.
Party
- Start a Party opens your party room right away; invite friends from inside it. A party of one says "Your party is open" with Invite Friends as the main button.
- Voice Settings sit next to Mute and Deafen in the party room, and no longer show when you are not in a party.
Cleaner
- Activity is just recent activity now: the reaction buttons are gone, and an item opens the player's profile.
- Empty pages (Notifications, Captures, a game without trophies and more) are centred on the screen.
- The page list in Settings has the same gap between every entry.
- The shelves on Home (Recently Played and the others) show larger icons with even gaps, and fewer games when the window is narrow instead of squeezing them.
- The trophy count next to Play is as tall as the Play button.

The biggest update so far: talk in games, go live, see which games run well, set up your controllers, and use the launcher in German or on the Steam Deck.
Play together
- Voice in games:
- Push to talk now works while a game is in front. Choose a key, or a Talk Button on your controller (a bumper, trigger or stick click).
- Soft sounds tell you when the microphone opens and closes.
- Voice Activity is now called Open Mic.
- Reduce Background Noise is on by default. Turn it off in the voice settings of the Online area.
- Go live (Windows): stream to Twitch, YouTube or your own RTMP server.
- Set it up in Settings > Broadcast. Your stream key is kept in the Windows Credential Manager.
- While a game runs, the Home button panel offers Start Broadcast, and a LIVE mark shows in the launcher.
- Game sound is not in the stream yet.
- Notification Center: a bell with a count in the top bar opens one list of friend requests, invitations, messages, trophies and updates. Accept, Join or Open right from the list.
- Friends' status: the friends list shows who is online and what they play.
- Invite links: Copy Invite Link on the party page gives you a link to send to friends. A friend link opens Add Friend with the name already filled in; it sends nothing by itself.
- Emoji: a quiet smiley in the message field opens your system's emoji picker (Windows and macOS).
Your library
- How games run: each game shows what players found: Runs well, Runs with issues or Doesn't start, and LAN for games that play together on a local network.
- Sort, filter and search:
- Sort by name, last played, size or status.
- Show only ready games, games that need unlocking, or games you can play together.
- Search works with the keyboard and with a pad.
- Storage: see how much space each unlocked copy uses and how much is free, and remove an unlocked copy. Saves are backed up first, and your game files are never touched.
- Game Hub: one page per game with its trophies, play time, captures, friends playing, Play Together and how it runs. Open it from Home or with Options on a game in the library.
- A trophy overview of all your games, newest first.
- Your play time this week, in the hub and on your profile.
- Trophy banners show the trophy's grade and, when known, how many players have it.
- Home: quiet shelves for Friends Playing Now (with Join), Recently Played and New. New games announce themselves, and the newest one is selected.
Make it yours
- Controller Center in Settings > Controllers: see every connected controller with its battery, test each button and stick, test vibration, set the stick dead zone and the DualSense light bar colour.
- Remap the launcher's buttons on pad and keyboard, or confirm with Circle. The button hints show your new buttons.
- A troubleshooter helps when a controller is not found or presses twice.
- Settings has a page for every feature: General, Appearance, Library, Sound, Controllers, Captures, Broadcast, Online, Connected Apps, Language, Toolkit, Advanced and About. The list remembers the page you left.
- Game Colors: a theme that takes its colours from the selected game.
- Volumes: set the volume for each kind of sound in Settings > Sound.
- Larger Text and High Contrast in Settings > Appearance.
- Drag to scroll lists with the mouse.
- German (Deutsch): the launcher now speaks German, with German dates and numbers. It picks German by itself when your system is set to German, or choose it in Settings > Language.
Everywhere you play
- Steam Deck: in Gaming Mode the launcher opens full screen and is ready for the pad, with pad hints.
- On-screen keyboard: every text field opens a keyboard when you select it with a pad.
- Linked copies: an unlocked copy can link to the game files on another drive instead of copying them, which saves space. On Windows this needs Developer Mode or administrator rights; otherwise the launcher copies as before.
- Flatpak: a Flatpak bundle for Linux is a new download.
- Mac: Add to Steam works on the Mac, and the PS button on your controller opens the launcher there too.
Steadier
- When a game ends, its log says why: you quit, the window closed, it crashed, or the launcher stopped it.
- A game that writes the same line over and over no longer floods its log.
- When a game ends in trouble, Send Report on the notice opens the report for you to read before you send it. It now includes your controllers and the end of the online log.
- When the launcher stops responding, it notes where in its log, so we can find the cause.
Cleaner
- Offline, friend rows no longer offer to join, and the party room hides what can't work. Connecting and offline look different now.
- The trophy list has a Back button and button hints.
- What's New shows once after an update. Open it again from Settings > About.
