Hi, I'm running Version 1.1.22 (3390) and am unable to compress (with or without password) a tiny .mp4 video (converted in handbrake to H265 from original .mov). Is this a bug?

Code error 1 using "p7zip"

I know mp4 is compressed, but it's basically in order to password protect it that I'm using keka in such a case.

no strange enough that works, even with "special" characters...

ok think i found the problem. Putting the original file on desktop worked. Putting it inside a folder in original placement didn't. BUT : the parent directory of the original fil did have a special character in the file name (asterisk), so i guess that's the problem for keka....

Thanks @ihubgit! Is usually a bad idea to use special characters in files and folders. I'll take a look at p7zip code anyway.

It would probably be more convenient for you if you make an encrypted "sparse bundle" disk image with Disk Utility... since you wouldn't need to wait for the contents of the archive to be decompressed just to view it and so uncompressing it wouldn't consume extra free space... with a "sparse bundle" disk image, it just asks for a password and opens the files right away.

Some of the cases for this issues are fixed in the upcoming 1.1.23, although not all cases and this will still fail in some operations.

Better late than never, fixed the asterisk issue using p7zip or 7zz: Keka-v1.2.62.r5144
