Superseded by 0.6.1: the octave V buttons are out of order in 0.6.0.

Pre-release, not yet checked on a board. The installer still offers 0.5.1 by default. To try 0.6.0: download theoryboard-usb.bin below, open the installer in Chrome or Edge, and pick it under Or use a file. Step 2 keeps your settings (0.5.1 settings and backup files carry over).

The chord panel works as printed

  • Voicing I / II / III / guitar apply to every chord pad. Press again to turn it off.
  • Spread I / II / III drops the lowest root 1, 2 or 3 octaves.
  • Octave V: tap a button to move the chords to that octave. Hold one and tap others to play the chord in several octaves at once.
  • The per-pad edits (add 7th / 9th / 6th, sus, strum on/off for one pad, reset) moved to Settings → Chords.

New

  • Layouts (Settings → Layout): the melody half can be Scale, Chromatic, Fourths or Drums. Drums splits it into scale, bass and General MIDI drum grids, each on its own channel.
  • Scales: 13 more built-in scales (blues, whole tone, harmonic major, Hungarian minor, Phrygian dominant, double harmonic, both diminished, bebop dominant, hirajoshi, in sen, Lydian dominant, altered); 12 user scales (U1 to U12) in the web editor.
  • Strum: repeat while held, cutoff, strum times as note values at the tempo, and strum off for single pads.
  • Arpeggiator: 8-step rhythm patterns, swing, sync start, a Chords pattern and latch.
  • Expression: pitch bend from pressure, Light and Firm velocity curves, and an option for held pads to follow key changes.
  • Pedal (Settings → Pedal): sustain, sostenuto, soft, portamento, play/stop, or a drum note.
  • MIDI clock out with Start/Stop (Settings → MIDI).
  • Violet and pink pad colours are further apart.

Changed shortcuts

  • ▲ / ▼ on the play screen move the melody octave.
  • Presets are now hold ◀ + ▲ / ▼.

Please check: press each centre button and check that the screen names its printed icon. The order of the panel buttons comes from a photo. A mismatch is a quick fix; please send a test report.
