ConnectFlyout 1.3.3

Choose a tag to compare

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 26 Oct 10:56

What's new

  • The codec shown stays correct after an audio switch. The codec was read once when the headphones connected, so after moving the audio to another device the flyout could keep showing the old one, for example LDAC after a switch to a PC that does not support it. The headphones announce each codec change on their own, and ConnectFlyout now listens for that announcement. It updates whether the switch came from this app, from another paired device, or from the headphones renegotiating. Applies to WF-1000XM6 and other newer models. Older models such as the WH-1000XM4 are not covered yet (thanks! @NemanjaKk).

Most PCs are x64. Pick arm64 for Snapdragon/ARM PCs.

  • ConnectFlyout_1.3.3.0_x64.msi (easiest). Run it. It installs just for you with no admin prompt. Choose Advanced in the wizard to install it for everyone. If Windows says it protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.

  • ConnectFlyout_1.3.3.0_x64.msix plus ConnectFlyout.cer. The Windows 11 app package. Trust the certificate once from an elevated PowerShell. Then double-click the .msix:

    Import-Certificate -FilePath .\ConnectFlyout.cer -CertStoreLocation Cert:\LocalMachine\TrustedPeople

Requires Windows 11 22H2 or newer. Unofficial app, not made or endorsed by Sony.

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 25 Oct 00:36

What's new

  • Works alongside the Sony phone app. The headphones let one app control them at a time. When the Sony app on your phone connects, ConnectFlyout now steps back instead of taking the headphones straight back. Open the flyout or press a shortcut and it takes control again; the phone app reconnects the next time you open it. A noise mode you pick while the phone has control is applied as soon as the link is back. Disconnect app control still hands them over until you select Reconnect.
  • Audio switching is more reliable. Moving the audio to the other device while this PC is playing no longer re-sends the switch mid-handover or drops the connection. The switch waits up to 10 seconds for the headphones, and an answer to an earlier switch is never mistaken for the new one.

What's new

  • Flyout controls read the right way around. The four switches under Settings > General > Flyout controls are now Enable ambient sound controls, Enable scenes, Enable playback and Enable sound controls. Each starts on. Turning one off hides that part of the flyout; the matching settings stay on their Settings page. Your saved choices carry over unchanged.
  • Clearer on-screen text. Device names, scene cards, reorder pages and shortcut rows use shorter, plainer wording.

What's new

  • Settings, reorganized. Every per-device setting now lives on the Devices page: expand a pair of headphones to name it, set the equalizer, DSEE, Speak-to-Chat, Auto power-off, Adaptive volume, Voice guidance and Connection mode, or let go of app control. The Sound and System pages are gone. Cards carry icons and expand the way Windows Settings cards do.
  • Scenes you can build. Settings > Scenes shows a card per scene. Add new ones, give each a name and an icon from a searchable picker, set its noise control, hide it from the flyout, delete it, or drag the cards into order. The switch in a card's header shows whether your headphones are in that scene and applies it with one flip. Each scene can have its own keyboard shortcut.
  • More shortcuts. Play on this PC and Play on move the audio between the devices connected to your headphones. Both start off.
  • Reorder headphones. Drag them into the order the flyout and the Devices page use.
  • A steadier flyout. Refreshing or letting go of the headphones no longer moves anything: the footer buttons gray out in place, the audio line stays through a reload, and Reconnect takes the status line's spot. Scene buttons fill the row.
  • Fixes. Switching to light mode crashed the app; so did quitting after using Settings. Both are fixed.

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 24 Oct 01:47

What's new

  • Hide flyout controls. Open Settings > General. Hide the Ambient sound slider and Focus on voice, the Focus, Office and Aware scene tiles, the Playback section, or the Equalizer and DSEE rows from the flyout. An open flyout updates at once.
  • A sound when a shortcut repeats the current mode. Sony headphones stay silent when you press the shortcut for the mode they are already in. The app now plays a short sound in the headphones, so you know the press landed. The sound goes to the headphones only, whatever your default playback device is. The first sound after a quiet spell arrives a moment late while the Bluetooth link wakes up; sounds in the next 30 seconds play at once.
  • Clearer text. Every sentence in the app follows the ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English rules: short sentences, one meaning per word, no contractions.

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 23 Oct 19:09

What's new

  • Keyboard shortcuts. Press Win+F10 for Noise canceling, Win+F11 for Ambient sound, or Win+F6 to turn noise control off. Press Win+F9 to open the flyout. Change or remove each shortcut in Settings > Shortcuts.
  • Hide the tray icon. Open Settings > General. Hide the icon always, or until your headphones connect. The app continues to run. Select what the app does when you open it from the Start menu while the icon is hidden.
  • Clean quit. Run ConnectFlyout.exe --quit to close the app. The app then releases the headphones correctly.
  • Lower memory use. The app gives unused memory back to Windows after it starts, and again after a long idle time.
  • Settings layout. The settings pages stay centered on wide windows.

Fixed

  • The app no longer closes when you unpair headphones while the Settings window is open.

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 05 Oct 16:07

What's new

  • Sony Control is now ConnectFlyout. Same app, new name. The publisher is now listed as artistro08.

Upgrading from Sony Control

  • MSI: Install the new .msi over the old one. It replaces Sony Control and keeps your settings and your launch-at-sign-in choice.
  • MSIX: The new name makes this a separate app, so uninstall Sony Control from Settings > Apps first, then install ConnectFlyout. Your settings don't carry over.

Sony Control 1.1.0.6

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 02 Oct 14:02

What's fixed

  • Equalizer on the ULT WEAR (thanks! @NemanjaKk). The equalizer did nothing on the ULT WEAR: presets had no effect, the picker jumped back to Manual, and manual changes were ignored. It now uses the equalizer commands the ULT WEAR expects, so presets and manual changes stick.

What's new

  • WH-1000XM5 is now listed as tested and supported (thanks! @NemanjaKk).

Nothing changes for the other headphones.

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 28 Sep 18:14

What's new

  • Sony WH-XB900N support (thanks! @RG007JM). Battery, noise cancelling and ambient sound, the equalizer and DSEE, plus the XB900N's own settings:
    • Surround (VPT) and Sound position, under Settings > Sound.
    • Voice guidance and Connection mode (SBC, AAC or Windows' choice for quality), under Settings > System.
    • The XB900N can't be turned off from the app, so the flyout hides the Turn off button for it.

Nothing changes for the WF-1000XM6 or WH-1000XM4.

@artistro08 artistro08 released this 28 Sep 17:57

What's new

  • Headphone pictures in Settings. Settings > Devices now shows each pair's picture, the same as the flyout, instead of a generic headphone icon.

What's fixed

  • Safer handling of unknown headphones. Headphones Sony Control doesn't recognize show up under their Bluetooth name, which anyone can set. That name can no longer be used to make the app look for a picture outside its own folder.
