PanoPose v1.4.0
PanoPose v1.4.0
PanoPose v1.4 introduces more precise spherical alignment, a new pivot-based roll workflow, and
streamlined reference-layer controls.
Highlights
-
Added quaternion-backed Azimuth Offset, Panorama-Up Tilt, and Panorama-Up Azimuth controls.
-
Added Roll Target mode for rotating around a pinned star, planet, or landscape feature.
-
Added a permanent center crosshair, projected pivot indicator, and pivot Alt/Az readout.
-
Added N, A, and R shortcuts for Navigate, Align Target, and Roll Target.
-
Improved Align Target with exact spherical dragging, including diagonal movement.
-
Moved alignment controls into the viewer and Planetarium mode to a bottom-right star button.
-
Simplified the Layers panel: comparison and opacity controls appear only after loading a reference.
-
Reordered comparison modes as Target, Reference, Fade, and Blink.

Applied the same orientation quaternion consistently to previews, sky removal, PNG export, and
Stellarium export. -
Added version-2 PanoPose orientation metadata while retaining compatibility with legacy Euler and
GPano metadata. -
Added support for uppercase image extensions such as .JPG, .PNG, and .TIFF.
-
Documented a GoPro MAX workflow for stacking nighttime panoramas and using them to register daytime
landscapes. -

PanoPose v1.2
PanoPose v1.2
PanoPose v1.2 improves export polish, metadata handling, and Linux release packaging.
New
- Added an optional branded Nadir Cap overlay to cover tripod/nadir artifacts.
- Nadir Cap radius is adjustable with a live preview.
- Nadir Cap is included in Export Pano As and Export Stellarium ZIP.
- Linux .deb and .rpm packages now include both panopose and panopose-cli.
Improved Metadata Handling
- Save As now preserves the unmapped source image and writes metadata only.
- Save As supports JPG, PNG, and TIFF metadata paths.
- PanoPose metadata now stores Nadir Cap enabled/radius settings.
- Latitude/longitude import is more reliable across EXIF/XMP variants.
- Imported latitude/longitude are rounded to 5 decimal places.
- Latitude/longitude inputs accept either decimal points or decimal commas.
- Images without geolocation now leave site fields blank instead of defaulting to Madrid.
- Missing latitude/longitude disables site-dependent astronomy controls and clears markers.
- Elevation is optional; astronomy and Stellarium export use 0 m when elevation is blank.
- Save As removes EXIF GPS tags when latitude or longitude is blank, and can write GPS latitude/longitude without GPS altitude.
Fixes
- Fixed Align Target vertical dragging so it feels like dragging the image.
- Fixed Tauri frontend build hooks for both local builds and GitHub release builds.
- Changed the bundle identifier from dev.panopose.app to dev.panopose.desktop.
- Fixed exported Nadir Cap orientation so its label is readable upright when looking South.
- Fixed release CI sidecar staging for panopose-cli.
