stassh 1.2.1
Fixed
Fixed terminal paste duplication when using Ctrl+Shift+V. The embedded terminal already handled the webview’s native paste event, while
stassh also read and inserted the clipboard contents separately, causing every paste to appear twice.
stassh now relies on the terminal’s native paste handling, including multiline, Unicode, and bracketed-paste support. The custom
Ctrl+Shift+C behavior remains in place for copying terminal selections.
stassh 1.2.0
stassh v1.2
v1.2 focuses on making the GUI workspace feel much more complete: better terminal layouts, broadcast visibility, folder-level SSH
probing, smoother package installation, and more capable reusable SSH transfer actions.
Highlights
- Added drag reordering for GUI layout panes.
- Added a per-layout
Min 72terminal-width toggle to reduce heavy wrapping in narrow panes. - Improved Main layout mode with clearer pane promotion behavior and automatic minimum terminal width.
- Made Broadcast layouts easier to see, with highlighted participating panes and a better-positioned Broadcast control.
- Added folder-level SSH probing with live success/failure counts.
- Added last-run timing for GUI Ping All results.
- Added
Ctrl+Shift+C/Ctrl+Shift+Vterminal copy and paste support. - Added the running stassh version to the GUI status bar.
- Improved the folder Inspector with a primary Open All action and clearer maintenance actions.
- Improved action templates for config-aware
scpandrsyncworkflows. - Expanded example actions with send-file and directory-sync helpers.
- Improved the GUI quickstart/package flow, including local
.debreinstall behavior.
Packaging
The workspace, GUI package metadata, and Tauri app version are now set to 1.2.0.
Linux package artifacts are expected from the GitHub Actions packaging workflow for the v1.2 tag.
stassh 1.0.0
stassh v1.0.0
First public release of stassh-rust: a portable, offline-first SSH workspace for organizing hosts, launching OpenSSH sessions, and
reusing common SSH workflows from a shared vault.
This release includes three frontends over the same Rust core:
stassh: command-line interface for scripting and direct workflow usestassh-tui: terminal UI for browsing, searching, inspecting, editing, connecting, and running actionsstassh-gui: Tauri desktop app with host navigation, inspector/editor panes, embedded terminal tabs, action previews, and terminal
layouts
Highlights
- Portable JSON SSH vault stored locally, designed to be copied or synced with tools you already trust
- OpenSSH-first execution:
stasshgenerates commands/config and launches the systemssh - Folder and host inventory with stable UUIDs, tags, notes, search, jump chains, SSH options, and local/remote/dynamic forwards
- Import/export support for useful subsets of OpenSSH config files, including nested
Includefiles - Machine-local identity mapping by key fingerprint, keeping private key paths out of the portable vault
- Optional encrypted
secrets.jsonsupport for host-associated fallback secrets - Reusable Actions for workflows that combine SSH forwards, remote commands, local prep, and local tool launch
- Example Actions for VNC workflows and sending a local file to a remote host with
scp - Simulation mode for both TUI and GUI, useful for demos, screenshots, and visual testing without touching real SSH config
- Linux
.deband.rpmpackages for amd64
User-Facing Features
- Browse SSH hosts by folder in the TUI or GUI
- Search by host name, path, hostname, username, tags, or notes
- Preview generated SSH commands before running them
- Launch SSH sessions through the system OpenSSH client
- Use jump hosts and SSH port forwards without hand-writing command lines every time
- Run reusable Actions such as VNC-over-SSH or file sending
- Manage local key mappings and local executable capabilities separately from the portable vault
- Use GUI terminal tabs, layout tabs, broadcast input, per-terminal find, and visible exited-session indicators
- Use tmux/byobu launch support from the TUI for multiple terminal sessions
Linux Packages
The attached Linux packages install:
/usr/bin/stassh
/usr/bin/stassh-tui
/usr/bin/stassh-gui
Available package formats:
- .deb for Debian/Ubuntu-style systems
- .rpm for RPM-based systems
## Notes
stassh does not replace OpenSSH or implement its own SSH transport. It uses the system ssh, so existing OpenSSH behavior, agents, known-
host handling, jump support, certificates, hardware keys, and authentication flows remain available.
## Known Limitations
- No automatic identity discovery from ~/.ssh or ssh-agent yet
- Action authoring is currently JSON-first; examples and HOWTO-Actions.md document the workflow
- The Send file to home example uses scp directly and does not automatically inherit complex stassh jump-chain or identity mappings unless
adapted or backed by an existing OpenSSH config entry
