Location Sharing User LSU Privacy
In an effort to be compliant with various privacy laws, Meridian is making changes to how we handle Location Sharing User (LSU) data. We strongly recommend upgrading to SDK 8.3 or newer.
Prior to SDK 8.3, LSUs were not associated with HPE Meridian Customer accounts. As such, when an HPE Meridian Customer's account was deleted or expired, LSU data persisted until the user explicitly deleted their data, but this option was dependent on the SDK implementation, so the user's data privacy was not guaranteed.
With the introduction of SDK 8.3, LSUs are now associated with the HPE Meridian Customer when they are created. When that HPE Meridian Customer account is deleted or expires, its LSU data is also deleted. This process is automatic, so the only change required is to upgrade to SDK 8.3 or newer.
This change also applies to API usage outside of the SDK. If you use the Location Sharing APIs directly, you should set the new owner_location property when creating a new user. You can use any Location ID in your Organization.
LSUs created before 8.3, or without an owner_location, will not be deleted when the HPE Meridian Customer account that created them is deleted or expires. As such, HPE Meridian Meridian will begin deleting these users starting July 1st, 2023. However, we understand that it takes time to upgrade SDKs and modify API usage we'll start with users created prior to 2022 (18 months), so you'll have lots of time to make your changes.
