v0.7.0
The most thoroughly-tested autonomOS release yet: three serious bugs are dead — the MCP bridge that shipped broken for bundle installs (found by an external report — thank you!), a crash that could lose a Codex agent's entire conversation, and the trust dialog that killed or hung every spawn on current Claude Code. Around the fixes: a hand-off queue for messages to agents that can't receive them directly, right-click agent management, drag-to-reorder that finally feels native, and honest UI everywhere from unread counts to permission labels.
🚑 The serious fixes
- 🔌 #377 — MCP tools work on bundle installs again. The per-agent MCP bridge shipped importing its dependencies as external packages no release tarball could resolve — it crashed before the MCP handshake, so every agent's
autonomostools (list_agents,send, …) failed fleet-wide while the daemon looked healthy. Deps are now bundled inline, and two new guards execute the artifact from a dependency-free directory in CI so this class can't ship again. Found and precisely diagnosed by @alanyan7 in #376 — a model bug report. - 🛟 #378 — A crashing Codex agent no longer loses its conversation. Codex agents that crashed during a resume were purged entirely — thread gone, manual backup recovery required. Now the agent is retained as crash-but-resumable with its thread intact, and a notification tells you it can be resumed (ADR-100).
- 🤝 #374 — Spawns survive Claude Code's new trust dialog. CC ≥2.1.26x changed the workspace-trust dialog to default to "No, exit" — autonomOS's old auto-trust either killed the agent at boot or left it hanging invisibly. Workspaces are now pre-trusted at spawn time (the dialog never even renders), with a hardened, verified dismissal as the fallback.
📮 Hand-off queue: message any agent
- 🗃️ #355 — Server-side hand-off queue. Messages to agents that can't receive inbound directly (like Gemini CLI) queue instead of failing — the human delivers them at a natural moment.
- 🔔 #356 — Hand-off badge + delivery overlay. The dashboard shows a badge on agents with queued hand-offs and a minimal overlay to deliver them into the pane.
🖱️ Manage agents from the sidebar
- 📋 #353 — Right-click context menu on agent rows. Open, kill, restart, set manager, delete — without hunting through panels (ADR-093).
- ✏️ #361 — Rename an agent. Right-click → Rename restarts the agent under its new name with the conversation resumed (ADR-096).
- 🧲 #357 — Drag-reorder, rebuilt. Whole-row native dragging with slide-apart animation — rows move the way you expect them to.
- 🎨 #346 — Status labels with real color. Muted-accent colors per state plus a subtle shimmer while an agent is working (ADR-090).
- 🕰️ #351 — Recency that survives upgrades.
lastActivityAtis persisted on the record, so sidebar recency stays truthful across restarts and upgrades — with #352 feeding it live from the Codex status stream.
🔔 Honest counts and labels
- 🧮 #368 — The unread badge and the bell panel finally agree. One source of truth for both, and Codex replies appear in the panel with their content (F3 from the onboarding audit).
- 🔢 #358 — Completed Codex turns count as unread … and #379 keeps that working with the current Codex rollout reply shape.
- 🏷️ #363 — The "Ask" permission label stops lying. The explainer now says what actually governs: Claude Code's own default (your
defaultModemay change it) rather than claiming a prompt on every tool use. - 📊 #375 — Codex usage bar understands the Pro 5x plan. Known lanes get proper Codex-CLI labels; unknown ones render gracefully instead of breaking.
🧰 Installs, upgrades, and the daemon
- 🚦 #366 — The installer checks for Claude Code first. Missing
claudeused to produce a daemon that crash-looped with the cause buried; now the installer fails fast naming the prerequisite, and a failed post-install surfaces the daemon's actual last log lines. - 🧹 #360 — Old API routes removed. Breaking change, announced in v0.6.0: the deprecated
/auth,/api/scheduler/*, and/api/hooksread aliases are gone (they logged deprecation pointers for exactly one release; production logs showed zero real callers). Old paths now return clean 404s. Plus scheduled prompts identify themselves with aschedule://<name>sender (#349) so agents stop trying to reply to the scheduler. - 📟 #364 — The statusline is back online. It had been silently showing "offline" for every agent since #297's token hardening — it now authenticates with the per-agent token and shows the agent's name and org position.
- 🪟 #354 — No more blacked-out terminals. A full-viewport refresh after WebGL context recreation ends the blank-pane-until-you-type bug.
- 🫥 #348 — Codex's self-update popup can't kill sessions anymore. Every spawned Codex session disables the in-pane update check that used to swap the binary and take the PTY down with it (ADR-091).
- 🖋️ #365 — First-run copy cleanup. User-facing text drops internal tool names and stale claims (from the onboarding audit).
- 🧪 #350 — Tests can never touch your real config. A guard makes the test suite refuse to resolve
~/.autonomos— your live setup is structurally out of reach. #373 also de-flakes a restart test that kept crying wolf in CI.
