What's Changed

Task Tool → Agent Tool Rename

In Claude Code v2.1.63, the Task tool for spawning subagents was renamed to Agent. This release updates the entire framework to use Agent(...) as the primary form while maintaining backwards compatibility.

Changes:

  • All documentation uses Agent(...) as primary invocation form
  • Python hooks accept both "Agent" and "Task" tool names
  • plugin-hooks.json matcher uses Agent|Task regex pattern
  • 8 agent config files updated to reference (Agent tool)
  • CLAUDE.md allowlist includes both Agent and Task
  • All docs, skills, commands, and output-styles updated

Backwards Compatibility:

  • Task tool name still works everywhere (hooks, matchers, allowlists)
  • TaskCreate/TaskUpdate/TaskList/TaskGet (Tasks API) unchanged
