Lodge 1.0.1

Coming from 1.0.0? Lodge 1.0.0 can't check for updates, so download 1.0.1 by hand once: open the disk image and drag Lodge to Applications. From 1.0.1 on, Lodge updates itself.

New

  • Menu bar mode. Keep Lodge running in the menu bar after you close the window. It watches for camera cards and asks to import them, with a notification or a floating panel (Settings ▸ General).
  • First-launch setup. A short guide walks you through your first preset: destination, folders, naming and safety.
  • A folder for each file type. Inside the last folder, files are sorted into one folder per extension (MP4, WAV, ARW…). JPG and JPEG share one folder.
  • Check for Updates. Lodge ▸ Check for Updates…, plus automatic checks you can turn off in Settings ▸ General.
  • Support Lodge. A tip link in the Lodge and Help menus, and a short note that shows up at most twice.
  • Contact. bashframes contact details in About Lodge and the Help menu.
  • Also new: a new app icon, an expandable Layout tree, and a progress strip in the offload bar.

Fixes

  • The window title no longer reappears when the toolbar changes.
  • Other small fixes.

Lodge 1.0.0

Lodge 1.0.0

Home base for your media.

Lodge offloads camera SD cards (video, photos, audio and sidecar files), verifies every copy and names everything the way you want. It's the first release under the new name.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It's a universal app that runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Features

  • Notices cards as you insert them. Any removable drive with media on it, including cards that were already in when Lodge opened.

  • A Card → Media → Destination window. It reads left to right, with the offload bar along the bottom.

  • Copies only what's new. A ledger remembers every file that was offloaded, so the same card inserted again only copies new files.

  • Verified copies. Each file is copied to a temporary name, read back from disk and checked with SHA-256, and only then renamed. Nothing is ever overwritten.

  • Naming templates. Folder and file templates with tokens:

    • {project}, {camera}, {date}, {year}, {month}, {day}, {time}, {type}, {card}, {original}, {seq} and {ext}
    • presets and a live preview of every final name
    • numbering that continues from what's already in the folder
  • Sidecars and proxies. Sidecars keep their clip's name. Proxies (.LRV, .LRF) go into Proxies/ and sidecars (.THM, .XML, .SRT) into Sidecars/. You can edit the extensions and the ignore list in Settings ▸ Files.

  • Presets. Save a whole setup (destination, naming, camera, short clips, quick dump and file rules) and switch to it from the toolbar.

  • Quick dump. Skip the project name and get a card offloaded right away.

  • Skip short videos. Accidental takes shorter than 5 seconds stay on the card. The slider goes from Off to 30 seconds, and the stepper goes up to 60. You can still include any clip from the Media list.

  • Favorite destinations. Switch between them in one click, see their free space, and drop a folder from Finder to copy into it.

  • Re-offload. Copy files again whose copies are missing from the destination, or copy the whole card again. New copies never overwrite old ones.

  • Format a card safely. A green Ready to format badge appears once every file has a verified copy. Formatting keeps the card's file system and name, and it refuses anything that isn't a removable card.

  • Thumbnails and Quick Look. View files as a list or a thumbnail grid, and press Space to preview a file.

  • Recent Offloads. The history of recent offloads, with Show in Finder.

  • Looks like a Mac app. By default the window is dark and neutral, and the controls use the system blue accent. You can also pick the Aurora, Ocean, Twilight, Ember or Forest theme, and Light mode.

  • Small touches.

    • a checkmark that draws itself when an offload finishes
    • numbers that count up
    • a card that springs in with a short glow
    • rows and tiles that lift under the pointer
    • a glowing Ready to format badge
    • trackpad feedback when you drop a folder

All of them respect Reduce motion.

  • New Lodge Cabin app icon, with hand-drawn small sizes

Install

  1. Download Lodge-1.0.0.dmg (or the .zip) below.
  2. Open the DMG and drag Lodge onto the Applications folder.

First launch

Lodge isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS warns you the first time you open it. You only have to do this once:

  • macOS 15 Sequoia and later:
    1. Open Lodge and click Done on the warning.
    2. Go to System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security.
    3. Scroll down, click Open Anyway next to Lodge, and confirm.
  • macOS 14 Sonoma: right-click (or Control-click) Lodge in Applications, choose Open, then click Open in the dialog.

The first time Lodge reads a card, macOS may ask whether "Lodge would like to access files on a removable volume". Click Allow.
