Fixed
- The auto-slice plugin keeps working on Hermes 0.21.6 and later. Those releases run the gateway from a package-manager environment as soon as a catalog plugin is installed. That environment has no pip and is rebuilt whenever a plugin is installed or removed, so the pip-installed
snapmaker_u1plugin (auto-skill load, next-action guard, image and review-doc attachments) was missing where the gateway ran.install.pynow deploys it as a folder plugin under<HERMES_HOME>/plugins/snapmaker_u1/, likeu1-form, so nothing has to be installed into any environment. install.pyno longer needs pip. It removes the pip copy earlier releases installed, from the venv and from Hermes's package-manager environment, falling back to uv where there is no pip, and prints the commands to run by hand if neither works.- The print-ready files attach on the tap-form path too. When the tap form ran a kit, the plate previews, bed photo and review doc arrived only if the model copied their paths correctly. The toolkit now attaches them itself on that path as well.
- Running the installer as root no longer leaves root-owned files behind. Hermes commands, probes and package removals run as the owner of
HERMES_HOME, and copied files take the owner of their folder. Hermes 0.21.6 stops the gateway on root-owned package-manager state. - The installer's interpreter probes run from a new private directory instead of the shared temp directory, where
python -cwould import any module someone had placed there.
Changed
- The print-ready message is written by the toolkit, with the decision last. A short card (the model's name; head, material, profile and supports; time and filament; anything to watch, such as a missing bed photo), then the plate preview, 3D view, bed photo and review doc, then the bed-clear question as its own last message, which notifies. Before, the model paraphrased all of it into one long message with the question above the photos, where it scrolled out of view. The YES that starts a print works exactly as before.
- The installer's final check asks Hermes how it loaded the plugin. Disabled, failed to load, or loaded from an old pip copy now fails the check, and the installer exits non-zero when a check fails. Updates remove only files the installer itself deployed, and
--uninstalldisables both plugins before removing them.
Upgrade: git pull, then bash deploy_to_runtime.sh and python3 adapters/hermes/install.py, then restart the gateway. The hook plugin is now a copy like u1-form, so re-run the installer after every pull.
